+1. Regardless of the front/rear torque split, the car carries vastly more weight over the front axle. There is absolutely no justifiable reason from a handling perspective to run a staggered wheel/tire combo with larger rubber in the back.... Unless you want more under steer ;)
In fact a reverse stagger setup like Audi offers on the RS3 would be likely better than a square setup to encourage more neutral handling. That the car handles as well as it does is a testament to the chassis engineers and advances like the sport diff. All that is there to overcome the inherent understeer that front heavy cars possess.
While I recently bought an S5, I own several Subarus and work for a performance tuning shop specializing primarily in Subarus. We have prepped and built numerous track cars so I am rather familiar with the dynamics of front heavy AWD cars =p
I can appreciate the aesthetic appeal of a staggered wheel fitment. As long as you understand that you will induce more at the limit understeer when selecting that fitment that's fine with me. If you don't drive hard you won't even notice the change in dynamics and can just appreciate the look. I'm about form following function so I have a non staggered set of Forgestars on order.
