Just joined the Audi ranks today..... 2009 A5 3.2 S Line 6 speed manual with 8,300 miles! Ibis white with the S Line pkg, 19's, navigation, tech pkg, B&O, and it has an awe exhaust and intake already, which awesome because I was looking at them on youtube last night! Pretty much saved me about 2 grand. Extremely happy about that, car sounds amazing, its gonna be my daily driver to and from work. so let the pictures begin :)..... Oh! I get to pick it up tuesday night ... let the longest 72 hours of my life begin....

Here's a quick question, if it was sold to you with the Intake/Exhaust...then Audi would HAVE to cover it right? Was it CPO?

Bought it from a bmw dealership.... only 5 months left on the original warranty. I was looking at two s5's for the same price, one of which was under warranty, but they both had 45k miles and just looked and felt beat to shit. This a5 was mint, head to toe. If the milage said 000005 I would've believed it.

Thats the intake thats on mine too. Not sure which awe exhaust though, I'll have to get under it this week and find out.

Man, every time I see a white coupe it makes me wish I got that instead of the cabrio! Don't get me wrong. Nothing like driving with the top down in SoCal along the beach but man that coupe is sexy! Wish I could have both in the garage. Maybe I can convince the missus to trade in the minivan for an S5 coupe? Would need to get a Yakima roof rack for all our gear though (soccer, snowboards, etc). Lol!

In the meantime, I'm such a NOOB when it comes to modding - my idea of doing work to the car it taking it to the wash and rotating the tires every 6 months!!! So I'm going to be asking a LOT of questions in the next few mmoths - please be gentle...

And here's my first. I've been on the forums for a few weeks now and am completely dazed by all the various technical terms flying about (cat backs, coilovers, 20 x 10 et25, etc). You might as well speak a foreign language to me as i'll understand you just as well - not! So is there a sticky that explains what these all are - and if not, is it possible to start a sticky with permission of admin to help out noobs like me?

Next question - what's the VERY FIRST thing I should do to the car? Add a clearbra?

Welcome! Looking forward to seeing your new ride! If you are anal like some of us, then absolutely detail and clearbra your car. Thats what I did. You will hear lots of different opinions about clearbra. I think its totally worth it. I have it on my ibis white cabrio and can barely see the seams. Treat it right and it wont yellow.

As for the other items, check out people's build threads to see what others have done and in what order. Once you figure out whats important to you, ask some questions. People are generally very helpful though on occasion you will see get some jerks responding too. Dont let them deter you.

Well, the only benefit of detailing would be to address any issues with the paint before you cover it with a clearbra. Since you car is new I assume you dont have chips, scratches, etc. At the least, make sure you give it a very good wash and maybe even an IPA wipe down/clay to remove any contaminants as you dont want that stuff under your clearbra. Again, since your car is new you may not need anything more than a very nice wash.

Definitely a nice grab...congrats! This was at the BMW on rt23 I believe. I was looking at this car the Saturday before you bought it!!! None of the A5s appealed to me like this one did so I just ended up getting an S5. Will post pics on Tuesday when I pick it up

Haha yeah I am not a huge fan of the 2013 facelift either. I'm going to get it tinted asap, but other than that I was looking into AWE exhaust, JHM shifter, and I am interested in getting it chipped but I'm nervous about voiding the factory warranty.

Tint will look nice and the AWE and short throw are great mods. As for the ecu tune...no input. I always did my turbo cars but it seems these days Audi is cracking down. If it were me I would casually ask my dealer their thoughts on ecu tunes and see what they say. Will be in you area Friday for work...going to stop by the dealer and see about an avant:)

The signal bulb is toward the inner part of the light (toward grill). That is a parking light. And I actually killed the power to the bulb for a cleaner look at night...on xenon and led

Hey Guys, new to the community but happy to be here. Waiting on delivery of a 2013 A5 Prestige S-Line. I know you guys have mixed emotions on the revised look of the 2013 but just saw one in person and thought it looked better than it had in pictures. Plus they couldn't find me a 2012 that had everything I wanted (manual tranny, s-line, etc etc).

Anyway I know I'm going to love it. That said there are a few things I would love to add. For instance, is there anyway to get the piano black look on the interior that the s5 has without breaking the bank? I love that look but don't want to be spending 3K+ to get it throughout.

Thanks for any help on this. I can't wait to take delivery and know the joy you guys all have every day.

Spray the interior pieces? wow, didn't even know that was possible. seen it on the outside chrome.

I'm looking to swap out the door trim, the center console and maybe even the dashboard gauge backdrop. Has anyone done this? I know it sounds like overkill but i love the look.

I live in Denver, CO. I recently upgraded to my new car from a 05 BMW 545 SMG. I have been an Audi owner in the past, I had an 04 Audi A4 Utra Sport and loved it. The main reason I switched at the time was it was another 6 months until Audi was doing a facelift on the current model, so I didnt want to wait. I loved my Beemer, but its definitely good to be back with the 4 rings!!!!

Anyway I completed my first mod today (Nokya 80w 7000K fogs)

some of my other list of mods include

Window tint (20% all around) and clear bra
LED lighting pkg upgrade
15/20 mm spacers (for now until I get new wheels and drop)
Lowering springs (most likely H&R OE)
20" wheels (still deciding on a style)
Rear lip spoiler (looking on the perfect style)
Bass amp and woofer upgrade

I definitely like modding, so I am happy to be hear and learn. Ive seen some really sweet rides here and cant wait until I get mine they way I want.

Hi guys and gals,

I've been lurking around here for a while, but never introduced myself. My handle is nglshmn, and I'm based in Chula Vista, just south of San Diego (just north of Mexico!).

In May I bought a 2009 S5 Coupe in Brilliant Red. Totally stock, babied from new with 30k miles.

So far she has had the nasty Platinum grille replaced with a gloss black, she has wheel spacers to improve the stance, and a color-matched rear spoiler. Hoehn fog lights were fitted today, and I've managed to pick up power mirrors really cheap - just need to get it back to the dealer to find out why the Side Assist is erroring, before I break it putting the new mirrors on!

I plan on dropping her an inch and doing a 50% tint, possibly some chrome pedals and switch trims, and eventually a touring exhaust.

Other than that, planning on making my own CF brackets and things over time to remove some of the excess weight as they don't seem particularly tunable.

As I'm in my forties, the complete rice boy thing is in my past, and I'd rather improve the classic looks, so no wild tints, drops, or 21" wheels. But each to his own.....

Hi everyone! Former 06 A4 S-Line owner here. Car was getting some miles on her so I decided to trade in while there was still some value left.


Brilliant Black 2009 S5 4.2 V8
Wallingford, Connecticut

Not going to do much else with the car. Maybe switch over to a set of after market wheels and go with a 30% tint to complete the stealth fighter look lol.
The car is currently running stock 19s that have been powder coated and had a lazer red circle spun around the last 1/4" of the wheels. I love how it looks. Very sinister. :D
Also have an AWE Touring Edition Exhaust with diamond black tips. Sounds mean when you want it to but subdued for good daily driving.
The previous owner did a lot of work to the car and kept the thing tip top.

I just brought it home for the first time last night so all I have is this one crummy pic that my wife instagram'ed for me.

I'm a 6'6" 29 year old SharePoint administrator for United Technologies Corporation.
I bought my first house this past May. Got married to my lovely wife in July. And bought the S5 in August!
Been a good year so far!

I'm a complete audiophile/freak. I love playing guitar and writing music. I'm also getting into high end car detailing. Claybar, machine polish, buff, seal, etc.

It's 5:39am now. I'm up an hour early for work and I can't wait to drive in!
