I am shortening my response to your question, not fault to you, but Audizine pissed me off as I was responding back to you in a lengthy response and after hitting the Submit button, they did not post my response but rather provided me a "maintenance" message.
So the shortened version is.... Price of boats the size I purchased, yes are expensive, new. But used is not as much as you described. If Colorado is pricing these type of boats that high, purchase one in New York or Florida. Keep in mind, that if your boat has a cabin, head and galley (microwave/sink) it is considered a second home and is a tax write off. That was one factor in our purchase. Another factor is one can finance up to 20 years. We chose 15 years for financing for our boat. Our monthly payment is lower than my monthly payment on MonSoonHell. We gave up our typical two cruises a year to offset the price of fuel for our boat, that equates to 20 fill ups a year.
The market works in our favor for purchasing boats right now. Well, I can speak for Long Island at least. There may be a lot of people with boats, however, there are lots of "for sale" signs on them at Marinas. These boats are remaining at the dock/marina more than actually being in the bay/ocean. The price of fuel for boats is no picnic. Hell for our boat each fill up is over $1000.
Ok...to answer your question. I have 26+ years as a Federal Law Enforcement Agent. 18+ years of that as a Supervisory Federal Agent. I have 27+ years of government service total to date. The main reason why I can afford what I have... no ex-wife(s) and no children. Then again, I have 33 kids at work... I married my career. Do not think I had these toys starting out in my career, hell, I didn't start vacationing until hooking up with wifey in 2002.
And Audizine - perhaps a heads up when you plan on conducting such maintenance on the website, like a sticky on each of the forums. Very frustrating. If you do this, my apologies, as I will look for it after hitting the submit button on this response...
