Best way to run ctach can and mbc

Im needing some help with plumbing on a few things. I will be installing my bt in a bit but i need some more info on a few things. I've been searching all day and dont have much concrete information to go off of. I will be running an mafless tune, so there will be no tip and i will be removing unnecessary equipment like the sai, evap, pcv, ect. First question is how exactly do i pipe a catch can in? What am i running it from and to? I am under the impression the i need to buy the 034 adapter to go from the block breather to the can. What about the valve cover port? I have looked all day but i havent seen many good pictures exactly how people set theres up. Again, there ill be no tip so i can't just pipe one into my existing system. Then, how exactly is the best way to hook up an mbc? should i leave the n75 attached or rip it out completely? If i take it out completely (except leave it plugged in elctronically) where is the best place to give it a boost reading? Id like to have the mbc in the cab so can i just run a line from the manifold and then run the other line to the wastegate or is it better to tap the compressor housing? sorry to have to ask these questions but im fairly lost with it. Also pictures of a good catch can setup would be awesome.also this is happening in an 01

ok, first question is, 1 or 2 bungs on the catch can?

do you want to run it back into the system or dump it atmospheically?

if you have something like the single port 034 can you can run some hose from the hard pipe(where the pancake is now) into the can

as for the mbc, i have mine setup w/ the in from the compressor to the mbc, out to the w/g.... and just looped my n75.... just find a spot and tuck it away

i got advice from a pretty good source, not to run my mbc into the cab, due to the air having to travel farther which will give you an inaccurate reading.... i was told that if i want it in the cab get an ebc

I haven't bought a can yet cause I want to make sure to buy the right things first. As far as where to run it that would be another question of mine. I would say returning ot back to the system would be what I want. At this time I just want to know how to hook the can up with a return. Do I need to do anything with the valve cover port? As for the Mac thanks for the heads up on that.

You have an 01, so you really just need to think about a mounting place. You trash the hard metal piping coming from the 3 way breather hose on the valve cover, but keep the PRV (pancake) valve. Then run a line from that to a catch can. Then run another line from that catch can to where the PCV originally went on your TIP, with the PRV still in the same place (on TIP). And for which can you get really depends on you. But preferably you want one with a baffle, to catch the oil and just let the air get recirculated back. People also place steel wool in theirs, for added baffle. For example, the 034 Vortex one does not use a baffle. The design of that catch can is to have the blow by spin on the inside walls of the catch can, and have the oil stick to the walls and basically drip down and collect at the bottom while just the air goes out the top port of the catch can. Below are some examples of a baffle, but they come in different configurations (such as how subwoofer boxes are configured).

And there are a lot of threads on how to install an mbc, whether to run in parallel, in-line, or by-passing the n75.

Thanks for the detailed description seerlah but I think you may have misread me. I will not have a tip therefore no pancake valve or no PCV system at all. I'm wondering the proper way to hook up a catch can in place of the pcv system. Info on your setup with pics would be awesome

If you no longer have a turbo inlet, then you have no choice but to vent to the atmosphere. Same thing I just mentioned, except an air filter on the outlet port instead of running it back to the TIP. And since it is now being vented, quality of the catch can no longer becomes that important because the reason of the baffle was to stop as much oil from going back into your intake. Expect an oil order too.

As for my setup...I don't have one. lol. I'm just going to run a heater hose down to underneath the car from the 3 way breather hose. Contemplating on placing an air filter on the end of it or not, for clean air during vacuum. Eventually, I will do an exhaust dump. But the heater hose thing will hold me over till then. And it's cheap . Like $5 cheap...if that.

I just did this. Hooked the pancake valve to the 3 way hose on the top of the valve cover and made a new jersey catch can with a hose running right down to the under body and dumping to the floor. I got tired of my pancake valve full of crap sending it back into my turbo.

FWIW, I have my catch can venting to atmosphere currently, and it's quite stinky...

Yes, you can do that. But you would need to do something about the pcv port under your IM. It tee-s off on the crank case breather tube. You can just plug the port that the PCV valve goes into.
