Sounds about right for just about any European car, or even for a regular cheapo these days I wouldn't be surprised. Overpriced if you asked me.

Very much so. It'll be interesting to year this caliper apart. Never done a 6 piston before. I've only rebuilt rear S4 calipers.

Maybe those cars have clogged cats or somewhat obstructed exhausts that caused really high EGTís. The valve cracked and the heat caused it to crack apart.
There were no markings on the pistons indicating interference. Maybe the valve got hot, but this cat looks fine and I donít recall any issues with the other one. Neither had cat codes.

I dropped the head off at my Indy shop to change the valve. He said heís seen it before too, couldnít really give me a direct reason why.

    Changed my headlight bulb today....

Man this was way more involved than I thought. Tomorrow Iíll swap everything over to my forged block and hopefully start putting it back in by the end of the day. Taking off the head will be interesting. Never done it before so I have to do some reading if I can find anything on how to do it.

Pulling the head is easy. If you have the engine out you should be able to figure out how to remove the head no problem.

This weather is highly unusual but so so awesome. And Iím really putting my Hakkapelittas to work this week too. My dog sliced his paw pretty good so he needs stitches so Iíve been making trips to the vet and the drugstore today as weíve gotten another 4Ē on top of the 6-8 we already had. Got to do some parking lot donuts and took the long way home and drove the backstreets and had some fun rather than slog along at 10mph with all the dumbasses driving on bald all seasons. These Hakkas are freaking unstoppable itís awesome. Snow tires are the truth, this is my first pair.

Also this is the first snow at home that the kiddo really remembers and sheís having a blast.

Evidently those snowmen are Olaf, Elsa, and Anna. *shrug*

as a big fan of, and repeat buyer on dws06 ill have to argue with this. my tires were actually dead, and i would have NEVER noticed if the shop didnt point it out, and even then i didnt believe them. we've gotten 4-6" twice this year and its never missed a beat. over a weekend putting on almost 300 miles in the snow and ensuing ice, it feels like driving on a road. one tire was borderline smooth and probably didnt have 3/32 on the best one. had no idea, but fresh set put on last week.

a coworker was spinning and sliding in his jeep in and out of the lot and i just cruise off without a slip at all. would like to try some real winter tires just to see if they are actually that much better, but havent had a need since ive gotten my car. pretty mild few years.

sounds like "frozen" and im guessing you'll be going to the store for some new markers soon. very.... artistic to marker a snowman

There's your problem. You can't say they're unnecessary without having tried them. I've owned both and sure, DWS are pretty good in the snow. Especially for an all season, but they don't hold a candle to a true snow tire.

i didnt say they were unnecessary at all, just that i would like to see the difference. last 3-4 winters here we've had maybe 3 snows a year worth shoveling. what would seem unnecessary is spending 500 or w.e for that. have had no issues on mine (even bald) going on bad roads, hills, shitty driveways, etc. had no problems doing a whole day in 6" unplowed driving. will fully credit the quattro over the tire as ive never had an awd non suv/truck, but im impressed and not having to change tires twice a year is a big plus

To each their own. I prefer having a dedicated set of actual winters and actual summers. Gives some seasonal variety in the way the car looks and out performs a tire that tries to do it all. Now are winter tires 100% needed? No, probably not, depending on where you live. But I won't be going back to all seasons, even if it doesn't snow that much.

And in reality it's not much of extra cost since it prolongs the life of your summer tires too. So yeah, you have to buy and store another set. But each set lasts twice as long as a single set would

thats fair and i definitely thought about it when i got mine. my last car was an 07 avalon and while it was very nice, it was terrible in the snow. the traction control wouldnt even let you try, so it got stuck once a year when i lived in a neighborhood up a hill. the audi had no problems and ive never felt uncomfortable driving it.

do your summers handle rain the same? last few years our spring has been 2 months of rain. 4 months nice and hot, random rain, then back to winter.

yeah sometimes we get hurricane amounts, and on the highway get some wiggles at 75+. not saying anything bad about winters and summers, but as a frugal audi owner i make due with my all seasons. doesnt mean ive counted out the idea entirely, just not needed now.

Until this year I ran summers all year around. Quattro can make lemonad me out of lemons when we got an inch or two in the past years but I would be pretty hosed this year if I had just summers. I debated getting some DWS or WRG3 Nokians but this set fell into my lap and theyíve more thank proven themselves.

I had the old DWS on my old b7 and they held their own on some ice and snow but as Tankdeer said itís not very close. I really really had to try to lose traction, and the ESP light would barely blink. Turning and stopping are where you see all the difference. Quattro can make magic happen on acceleration but braking on hard pack and ice with these is no big deal. And driving up a steep icy hill was a breeze and I didnít even break traction. Theyíre truly next level.

And my low budget summers are excellent in rain. Not all summers are great in the rain but mine are great. Never had a hint of hydroplaning and my daughter loves driving through puddles with me so, trust me, Iíve tried. My snows are actually quite a bit worse in the rain, but you just have to remember theyíre not performance tires. Theyíre for snow and cold temperatures so you canít just rip around like you can on summers the other 3 seasons.

What are they going to do with camera footage? Worst case, tape some cardboard over your license plate for 5 minutes while you goof around. I canít imagine much will happen unless a cop pulls up right as youíre mid donut. Even then heís probably just tell you to get the hell home, haha.

again, not throwing salt on winter tires (haha, get it?) but ive had no problems with hills, braking issues ONLY at the time where snow is on water into ice, then as soon as there was anything to get traction, zero slips at all.

i use my car for my job, which i cant afford to lose, and without going into a whole story, i wouldnt be hard to find. i know all the local cops, most are cool, but one probably never got to eat lunch when he was in school, and hes like 5'4, so hes ready to bury anyone.

What Did You Do To Your B7 Today?..

Donít have any of my a4 from the day but my former mk4 golf ripped it pretty well in rally set up. We have a frozen dammed lake we hit up every year. It was like glass 2 weeks ago

Quattro has been good to me on blizzacks but with the polar vortex bs every road is like a skating rink right now and even the brand new blizzaks have some slip with them

Yup. There are some pretty great all season tires out there but a dedicated winter tire should almost always stop and turn better.

I run Pilot Sports AS/3ís all year round and they are great but I wonít deny that they donít stop as well or turn as well as a set of Blizzaks would.

I think this will be my last season running all seasons.

nice, I got the same few days ago, and I've cleaned it with lexol ! Ive used also kiwi shoe dye to cover light scratches before applying lexol conditioner.

Mine are not plug and play, can't find why. Driver side should be plug and play, but I got air bag code. The passenger is not in yet.

As per my discussion with an other member, I probably need to adapt the new seats via vagcom.

I might think this is because of 2 different airbag , since 2 different seat.

why OEM headrest? I guess they are more comfy ? so far I don't like the recaro headrest...
