I used an oil extractor as well the last time I serviced my B7. It definitely helps, especially if you don't want to faff around with ramps or jack stands. The only messy bit is the oil filter housing, and that is also not too bad if you loosen it enough to get it off by hand, then just put a plastic bag over it when you remove it.

on a reliable engine why not.

But not on those FSI nor my bmw s engine.

I use a magnetic drain plug, and I keep an eye on the rod bearing wear (bmw) or cam follower faillure or anything else on those fsi...

so far I saved my N55 with this.

Do you have periodic oil tests done? I know a lot of guys Stateside send their samples to Blackstone Labs (?) to have it analyzed for metallic debris which can give an indication of which components inside the engine are wearing down faster than usual.

Never done it myself (and I doubt a company that does this exists in S.Africa) but I've seen it mentioned on M539 Restorations' YouTube channel a few times.

Hang on to it, and hopefully switch back over to it if I can find a reliable source for the passenger side engine mount bracket. Race3 (allegedly) sells one but I waited OVER A YEAR for it and was given excuse after excuse. I was so frustrated the car was down I ended up buying a new setup..!!

Finally went Stg 1 with 034…..do not regret that purchase! The difference is very damn noticeable. Couple it with my 034 HFC…perfection. However, I’m having a hesitation between 3700-4000rpms, on 3rd and 4th gear. Like half a second, though. I contacted 034 about it. Love the small wheel spin, too!

Edit: Noticed a hesitation in 6th to where it wouldn’t go past 75mph for about 5secs. CEL came back on. Will scan once I get home. Praying it’s just the O2 sensor, because my heart was beating when it popped on close to base! I said to myself “if it blows up now, at least let me get a second car lined up!”

Tuning a car is going to start stressing all the other weak points. You have likely doubled the boost pressures, increased the ignition timing, and are making 30-50 percent more power.. When was the last time you serviced the car? Plugs, coils, fresh MAF sensor, O2 sensor, and air filter never hurt.

That makes sense. Service was 23 Oct. That makes complete sense.

    Edit: You are correct:

Edit 2: one thing I realized today, I flashed for 91, only to find when I went to the gas station, we’re 93! So I have to reflash again for 93. Lessons learn.

It “gargled” its valves today. Had some tapping last night figured it was a stuck valves, so I was limping it to a shop today. Then it started sounding like a box of marbles.

Has anybody done a complete interior swap. Mine is grey and I want it black, and I might be able to get a black one but how much am I getting myself into. Specifically thinking about the dash, center console and carpet. Seats and door cards are pretty straightforward.

depends of your skills, not particularly difficult, only time consuming.

20h easy if you don't mess stuff or having issue with the donor wiring.

A marriage has begun. The engine Audi/VW should have never turned its back on will return to its former glory between the frame rails of an Audi. Race3, EFR, csf, 034 ECU, lambo intake, AAN turbo manifold altered to 07K.

I’m relocating 16 days. So last chance on the remaining 2.0T parts before they all disappear.
Black seats, black carpet, black centre console, black glove box, IE race cylinder head, iabed vac pump delete, oil pan/upgraded snub mount, 155 prv, throttle body, vac pump, new hood (quartz grey), 034 aluminum LWFW. Shoot me a message.

Yeah, they kinda sucked the first time, lol. I've pulled my rack like 4-5 times, and gets easier. But fingers crossed I don't have ta do it again, lol.

If I remember correctly, he did mention it scuffing a bit on the cams, but not to the point of needing a replacement. He said to drive it for 2 weeks and then get an oil change. Once I get my tax return and mil pay raise, I can schedule the oil change and buy a new.....you mean camshaft, right? If so, then once I get those two (pay and tax), I can buy a new shaft and have it put in + labor and a new oil filter and whatever else you would recommend in the process. I really want an LSD install as my last mod, but I'm content with what I have now.

Finished a hfc install and an oil change today. Took it for a 20 or so min drive to put gas in it and wasn’t very impressed… Then on my way home I had a chance to really get on it through 3rd and 4th and holy shit!

I did notice some odd surging higher in the rpm range though. Car is apr stage 1 and has a gfb dv+. Anyone else have a similar thing happen? Or might know what’s causing it?

Do a throttle body adaptation and give the ECU a chance to learn the new fuelling rates. If auto, the transmission may also need to adapt to a different driving style as well.

But doesn't mean its the tune. Could be something that was getting "weak", that is now more noticeable after tuning.

Yeah, 100% not the tune. If this was a custom, DIY, or otherwise special tune, sure. But this is a run of the mill, off the shelf tune, all it did was expose an existing weakness in the system.

Absolutely, i think I would still regret the decision.. had a drivable car, now don't, not blaming the tune

I did a tune on my B8 after I completely rebuilt the engine so I was confident, but it would suck to be excited to get a tune and then go "oh my god now I need to do more work"

Well, can usually be avoided by doing a full health check before tuning, but don't always happen, lol.

haha yeah, this is what I didnt do.

bought the car, wait for a week cause the guy was on vacation, bought all the 'stage 2' proof parts, get the car home, put the parts, and went to unitronic for stage 2.

didn't had the time to feel the difference lol.

all good for 5 years, then I did had issue with the DV , but a simple boost lost. I was peaking around 25 psi on the podi gauge, and last summer I had 18psi peak. One of the seal was wear out ( I did a post in B8 section dv thread) .

Got a new one (lifetime warranty) and Im back to around 22psi, so definitively my DV, but I have probably a boost leak somewhere. My guess is the other DV seal or my meth kit nozzle. Will check this spring

What Did You Do To Your B7 Today?..

So couple days of driving around with the 034 hfc and I have two codes. P0141 O2 sensor heater and P0139 O2 sensor circuit slow response. I understand this to be the rear sensor, but I can't find anything about which spacer might work best. Or should I just look at getting a different tune from JHM or GIAC?

Spacer won't help these codes. Sounds like a bad 02 sensor/wire. The common code is p0420(cat efficiency), thats what a spacer helps with.
