That's exactly how mine is, gas symbol always on on top of the dis, gauge and range never thinks it's over ~45%. What tools are needed and how easy is it? I can solder and wrap wires but that's about the extent of things I've ever done (and not to my car)

Quite simple. Remove the rear seat bottom by pulling up on it. 3 Phillips head screws hold down the black cover, remove these (driver side) Now you can see the top of the sending unit. It is held in by a retaining ring. I just use a hammer and punch to spin it counter clockwise. Disconnect wire connector and then just pull up and remove carefully. Repair of replace as necessary. Shouldn't take more than about 25 min. Make sure you don't have a full take of gas, it will spill over.

It's extremely easy to gain access to the float. Pop the rear seat bench off. Three Phillip's head screws for the metal cover. The use a flat head and hammer to spin off the locking ring (might want to mark the location of the locking ring before removing). Disconnect the sensor and have a look. I didn't even remove the float since I saw the issue right a way, I just popped it up a bit. I have heard sometimes the unit it self may fall apart, but check the wires first. Mine was very obvious. Also I had a ton of dirt laying on top that a vacuumed before opening it up. You wouldn't want dirt getting into your tank. Be mindful of the orange seal when reinstalling

I didn't do it but my dad did so it's all good. Changed cam follower, thermostat, coolant temp sensor, and clutch switch. The cam follower and pump was changed recently so that was a relief. I bought the car used a couple months ago so we changed out the follower just to have a ref point of when it was changed. I was considering doing the coolant flange as well but thought I might be pushing my luck if I showed up with all those parts to my dad's house lol. I'm picking it up today Wohoo!

Finished up a service on my son's 2006 2.0t. Changed cam follower, diverter valve, serpentine belt and tensioner, and full timing belt service. This was on a car I just bought for him. It had sketchy service records, and an engine rattle. The cam follower fixed the rattle, and now we have a starting point to track timing belt service.

Is there no DIY for the JHM shifter linkage and bushing upgrades? Mine are supposed to arrive today, and I am trying to figure out if this is something I can tackle myself or should take it somewhere for. I have a good understanding of the short shifter install, and plan to tackle that, but with the other two it is less clear.

JHM has a bunch of videos on YouTube. I think they’re linked on the shifter and bushing pages.

They have good clear instructions once the linkage is out of the car, but don't provide much on the actual removal and the bushing itself unless I'm missing a link.

Correct I’ve seen this video as well. There’s just no video of how to remove it while it’s in the car although they indicate it’s possible. Going to poke around today and see what’s what.

Same with mine. And that was all because Adam said it would be stupid not to do it with the motor out

Applied some epoxy on the backseat cover and going to let it cure overnight. If this don't work, then contact cement is next.
