Had a productive weekend. Installed the winter tires/rims that came with the car.. using the weird little Audi jack thing in the trunk. And finally upgraded my head unit from the stock Symphony II to a Pioneer AHV-X2800BS using the Enfig wiring harness, surround kit etc. Looks pretty good. Doesn't sound bad at all for the money anyway.




Also changed the background to the Audi rings instead of the silly stock graphic.

Also ran the mic through the A pillar to the stock location and have a USB extension in the glovebox.

Well obviously it fits but your timing housing needs to be modified and you need the machined spacer. It's not a direct swap.

Haven't switched to my snow tires yet because of an unforseen circumstance and then a lack of time. Slid past 3 turns today. Toyo Extensa HPs SUCK in snow. I forgot how bad it is without snows.

I'll be on my Conti DWS tires. They did me great 2 winters ago (I was in Singapore and SE Asia for December 2015 - March 2016), so hoping for the same results or I'll have to get some winters.

All seasons correct? These toyos are all seasons but not even close to how a snow tire is. I think I'm staying in Buffalo for school so I'm picking up brand new snows over the summer or black Friday next year. Winter sports, altimax arctics, or I'll spring for hakkas again. I just love the Nokians. And it's worth it here when I go skiing once a week!

I figure that happens a lot on CL. Couldn't hurt to try though, it's relatively easy to notice if it is.

And I don't believe so but some people are weird enough to deal with the errors I'm sure.

That cam follower "upgrade" had been out for years. I think i remember seeing reports of it damaging the cam lobe over time which is why it didn't catch on. Definitely do a ton of research before you use it long term.

There was 1 kit out there that had hardened cam lobe pressed onto the cam.

Ended up dropping it off at Audi for insurance reasons. We'll see what they say and I'll go from there. Too many variables to try to figure out a plan. The car will be fixed one way or another, but it's just super inconvenient right now.
