    2009 A6 S-Line Questions

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've been searching and searching, but I'm having a terrible time finding out much of anything about a 2009 A6 S-Line. Did they have any different exterior body trim from a standard A6, like the fog light surrounds and the rear diffuser panel? Did they have any S-Line badging other than the steering wheel? Is there even such a thing as a 2009 A6 S-Line??? Pictures would be most appreciated.

The only 2009 A6's I've found with different fog lights and rear panels are non-S-Lines with 4.2L engines.

There is such thing as an 09 SLine. With the facelift between 08 and 09, all of the exteriors of the A6s were the same (Sline) unless you got the S6 (different diffuser and LEDs in the bumper instead of foglights). SLine cars had different interior appointments like steering wheel, etc. 09/10 A6s have square fog lights then they went back to round in 11.

Thanks for clearing that up. I have found 2 or 3 2009 A6's though with round fog lights, the different grille around the fog lights, and the mesh panel between the tailpipes. None of them said anything about being S-Lines, or S6's, but they all seemed to have 4.2L engines. One more question, did the S-Lines have S-LIne badges anywhere other than the steering wheel?

Not to question, but in 2009 the 4.2 would have been very rare and hard to find if at all. Audi introduced the 3.0 TFSI that year which basically replaced the 4.2. Don't get me wrong, it was still an option, but only via special order. In the several years of owning an A6, I have only seen a handful of 4.2s of the 05-08 model years and have not seen a single 4.2 in 09-11 models. Are you sure your not looking at late model 08s?

Unless the owner changed out the front grill to the facelifted model, anything prior to 09 will have a solid strip separating the upper and lower front grills. 09 and newer have no separation (at least not one that is easily seen). As for badges, there are not any on the exterior that I am aware of. Steering wheel and door sills are all that I am aware of that has SLine on it.

I haven't actually seen the cars, just ads for them. Here's one of them. I forget which character in the VIN is the model year. Could be the year is a mistake in the ad.

Here's one with the different trim and a 3.0L engine. Beautiful job with the camera work too. Can't tell if the badges on the front fenders are the S-Line badges or Supercharged badges. Could be the owners are modding them, but I sure like the look a lot better than the normal 2009 A6. Guessing it would take a whole new bumper cover in front and not just the fog lights and surrounds.

Very interesting to say the least. Those are SLine badges on the Audiworld one.

Here's more, and more interesting, the first one is a 2008, and only has the different fogs, and not the back.

i was not a big fan of the rectangular fog lights so when i seen the rounds i was interested to find out more but never really got proper info
if its not specific to the 4.2 it may be just on "Prestige" cars

Interesting. I thought all SLines came with projector headlights and LEDs. Your has Halogens and no LEDs.....

One thing I am noticing is that the countries are different, your in Sweden another was in Canada and some are in the US. I believe that "Ynnekdude" has a 2010 Sline with Prestige package and his fog lights are square. I give up....

More confusion! I thought the S-Lines had the sport suspension and 19" wheels. You are saying yours are 18".

    Europe models :

Audi A6 - S line models can have S line exterior or interior package or both :

    Exterior :
    - round fog lights and a bit more aggressive front bumpers
    - side badges (at approximately 3-4cm from the door)
    - sport suspension (significantly lower)
    - rear bumper with the S-line specific small grill between the exhaust pipes
    - yes, 18'' rims on the S-Line with 8 and 8.5 on 245/40/r18

    Interior :
    - sport steering wheel - 3, with s line badge (some even have the RS6 - with straight bottom)
    - for manual , the shifter is different, looks way better
    - sport seats with alcantara/leather combo
    - aluminium/chrome pedals
    - sport trim on some of them
    - exterior side badges are put on cars that have only interior S-line

In Germany there are some A6 S-line models which have the S6 grill (much cooler with vertical chrome bars) and the S-Line badge in front.

I don't know about the USA versions

    Yea it is really confusing.
In US i see that it is less confusing because you basicly have three big packages as i understand.

Here in Europea, or atleast sweden, we have smaller packages but more of them, like sportpackage, S-line interior, S-Line exterior. So you can choose S-Line interior, but only light sportpackage, or S-line both interior/exterior.

This car I bought from the dealer and got really god price so i didnt have any option to choose.
Cant belive how they could order a new car like this without xenon.

Although there is a dealer in germany that sells OEM xenon conversion lights for non xenon A6 C6, which i will buy soon.

    Hi vajking!

Can you put some photos from the sides of the car and the back so i can see how it looks with 18''?
I'm looking to buy some 18'' on 245/40 because i think 255/35/r19 would be too much for the crappy roads in Romania.

    Thanks

    Hi eKKoMAn

I dont have photos from the side of my car, but I will share some other photos of same setup.

Although i think you should go with the 19", there isnt really any difference in the bumpyness between 18" and 19"

    Thanks for the photos.

"Although i think you should go with the 19", there isnt really any difference in the bumpyness between 18" and 19" "

If what you say is true, then i will go with 19'', because the rim models i like don't come in 18'', but my problem is : if it will not be stiffer (cause of the stock suspension)...will it rise the car and give the car a bad look? I'm trying to fill the gap without raising the car.

This test i've done on one website shows that its not that much of a difference, but still people told me that it will raise the car even more. Hence, my problem, since i don't want to lower the suspension as it will stiffen the ride and further lead to damaging components around the wheels.

    http://www.calcule.ro/Compatibilitat...NhdmVkBQR0cnVl

What's the best compromise then for : looks vs smoothness? :)

Well it is going to be a little higher up, but that you will compensate with filling the wheel arches with 19".
Honestly it isnt such a big difference, if you went for 20" you would notice.

But both 245/40R18 and 255/35R19 are stock setups, so there shouldnt be any issues.

You said stock suspension. Do you have the non sport suspension or the lower stock one?

I think there are three setups in Europe Stock(comfort) Stock(Sport) and Stock(S-Line)

    Highest first.

    Here is a Stock(Sport) suspension A6 with 255/35R19

I definitely have the Europe Stock(Comfort) suspension.
I agree with you, the Stock(Sport) looks great with 19 and i'll look around to find some images with 19'' and Comfort, before i make my decision.
