Seat Exeo RNS-E retrofit in a B6 : Completed.

Hey guys.
I ordered a Seat Exeo nav unit from poland. (pn 3R0 035 192) this unit is the same as the RNS-E PU 2010+ edition (pn 8P0 035 193).


The difference between the regular RNS-E and the 2010+ RNS-E is

• the LED screen, **EDIT: Higher rez screen (not led)**
• 32 GB sd capability,
• Traffic media channel updates,
• auto dimming,
• a faster processor,
• and a few minor features like pressing the power button mutes the volume

Visually I have found no difference between the Audi RNS-E unit and the 2010+ Exeo unit except for the Radio navigation system written on the screen bezel being absent on the Seat unit.


Anyways, If you want to retrofit the 2010 RNS-E its the same as retrofitting a normal RNS-E
you will need

• Quadlock adapter harness (if you dont have symphony 2+)
• diversity radio antenna adapter
• fakra GPS antenna.

((search ebay.co.uk as the prices for the adapters are much cheaper there. ))

as for the EU to NA conversion Its slightly different from the older units conversion process but converting a 2010+ Seat unit is the exact same as converting a 2010+ Audi unit. The tutorial can be found here.

I do not fully understand it, However the original poster ended up being a local user named `Multiphrenic`let me use the conversion cd and map dvd that he used on his A3 RNS-E 2010+ because our diagnostics screens showed the same SW number same audioSW number and boot number.

Unit is pretty sweet and I couldn't be happier.

Also I recoded the Instrument cluster +0004 (add[+] 4) to whatever your current coding value was in VCDS.
It now gives me directions in my DIS!
When I converted the unit to NA I lost the Seat start-up screen, So i went into VCDS and to adaptation channel 18 and changed the value to 6.
This solved the problem and got the Seat start-up screen back. You can choose start-up screens according to preference.


Have a 6 disc changer on the way along with a MFSW so I can update my thread when I get those!

Retrofitted my B7 glove box and 6 Disc CD changer.

picked up a perforated shift knob off ebay. still looking ebrake handle.
I removed those pedals too.

TMC doesnt show me traffic data, however it does show me where there is construction. I will make a video and show this later as I'm at work right now and also dont want to film it with my cell phone, so I'll bug my friend to use his gopro.

EDIT: TMC DOES IN SHOW ME TRAFFIC DATA AND RE-ROUTE MY PLANNED ROUTE ACCORDING TO TRAFFIC CONDITIONS.

Picked up a euro b8 wheel, not sure if its diffferent from NA but I got it from Ebay.DE so i'll post pictures and update as promised when it comes.

no the seat exeo shares the same faceplate as the A4

I just have to point out that people have been using the term LED very loosely with these new RNS-e units. "LED" refers to the backlighting of the unit, not the screen itself. This 2010 units are higher resolution LCD screens with LED backlighting.

Does anyone know what the increase in resolution actually is?

I spent 750 on one before I found out about the newer version ones. I bought it from a forum member and even paid him $30 out of good christmas spirit because paypal stiffed him on the fee's and conversion. When I got the unit it looked nothing like the pictures he had sent me and even had custom plasti dipped buttons.
After returning that, I bought a unit from seller Russelzuzza. (DO NOT RECOMMEND) It was labeled as 8E0 035 193B and when I plugged it into VCDS and scanned the real p/n came up as 8P0, He insisted that he had pulled it from a 2011 A4 with his own hands, also had the wrong manufacturing date and a fake serial number, The label on the top was fake, there were fake warranty stickers and once I converted the unit it no longer accepted the security pin and potentially bricked itself. I'm currently finishing up a counterfit claim with paypal at the moment.

Let this be a lesson, Do your homework, dont trust people.... (with large sums of money when they are on the other side of the planet).
ask for pictures, get the correct SW version for your conversion and ensure that everything is how you want it.

If anyone needs the Conversion CD for EU to NA I can email you the files if you email me some money :)

Yes. the A3 knobs will work. Changing out the larger knob is simple. Swapping out the smaller volume/power one **** you're taking apart about 50% of the nav unit to accomplish.

I had thought about buying the SEAT Exeo unit and swapping just the knobs, but wasn't sure how intensive that was. Thanks for clarifying.

That's a lot for an older unit. I bought an older RNS-E for last B6 and it was $500. Regardless, this time around I am more concerned with the price of adding ipod control and bluetooth hands free and sirius. I liked my olde RNS-E alot, but I think getting another pioneer might be a lot cheaper when all is said and done.

You can also use the OEM module which you can get from GAP for about ~$320.

Anyone know if the rearview cam will work with the SEAT unit like Steph's updated unit? To the OP, are there other manufacturer coding options for this unit (Lamborghini)?

I don't think the faceplate has its own PN and is easily available. I could be wrong here. Or, you find one with the faceplate already swapped by a seller. But then, as noted by the OP, there's no telling what the unit has gone through!

To the OP, before you bought the bricked unit you should have realized that an 8E- part number would not belong a MY2011 A4 anyways. Bad situation either way. Paypal should get you your money though!

I think I could still get a decent amount of money from someone who wants VIM right out the box. Then I could buy a seat unit and drop in the RVC stuff when i am ready. Better yet, I'd like to buy that A3 unit from the same seller as you (193G) and swap faceplates. Haven't really been able to locate a A4 faceplate easily though...

Thanks for the tips on that seller. Once my "T" revision unit comes in the mail I'll install it for long enough to take good pictures, videos of the VIM hack features, and try to sell it so that I can replace with a 2010 unit! Like I mentioned before, I bought the set up primarily for the MY2011 BT module (+harness, mic, antenna)

well after driving around with it for a bit I noticed it does work, when there is heavy traffic the roads turn red and yellow accordingly, I am yet to have a route programmed and hit traffic to see if it alters my route.

It will alter your route if alternative roads are found. Just be aware that the data is not the most accurate. I've been stuck in jams where the TMC data showed no delay and I've sped thru "phantom" stopped traffic. Still it is quite useful.

I too don't quite understand why some people are referring to the post-2010 RNS-E as LED screen, b/c they're not. I guess it's some e-Bay marketing BS...

Pre-2010 is 400x240px, post-2010 is 800x480px.
