Will GTI seats fit in a MK1 TT? (for a friend)

Hey all in TT land. I am really only in the A6 section but a friend just got a MK1 TT and he doesn't go on forums much, he asks me instead lol..

So will any of the GTI seats fit into an MK1 TT coupe? If so, which gen? I assume if any it will be MK4 GTI, but what about MKV & MK6? He likes cloth better and figures he can also profit a few bucks between the TT seat price and a GTI seat price. Or swap with a GTI guy if they are mutual fits.. He's hoping for plaid MKV seats to work..

Thanks for the help brothers from TT mothers!

    Will need different mounting plates
    Should be easy DIY
If you don't need both hands on the wheel, then you're NOT driving.

I looked into the reverse of this when I owned a Mk4 VW. The way the seats mount to the body of the car are totally different. Even if your friend(or a fabricator) could pull it off, the VW seats would sit so high in the car(even in the lowest position) that nobody over 5'2" could drive the thing.

Oh man, ok. Is there any way to use the rails from one and seat otself from the other? Or totally out?

He might be better off with some Corbeau or something. He was hoping to get heated GTI/Jetta seats to swap in tho..

MK4 seats don't really use rails in the traditional sense. Go find a MK4 in the service department(I'm sure you won't have to look too hard) to see what I mean. MK5/6... its been a while since I've removed MK5 seats so I can't really comment about the removal of the sliders/rails, but he would still be dealing with the height issue. Best bet is to have the TT seats re-upholstered, Corbeaus kind of suck and he'll lose the nicer factory adjustments and side airbags.

Service dept is a few blocks away. And I don't know his TT enough to compare. Surprised its that much of a difference since there is so much similar between them.

    Oh well, thanks gents!
