    Possible to replace stock subwoofer??

I think my stock subwoofer is blown in my 2009 A4 3.2. Has anyone replaced theirs or installed an aftermarket one? I think i'd prefer to replace the stock one so that i don't have to give up room in my trunk for a box.

I'm sure you could - the dealer may be able to tell you what brand it is (Bose?). There are a few threads about replacing it through here, may not be with a stock one but may be able to search through and see if someone lists the brand/size/type. Good luck.

see the link in my sig to my build thread for a custom sub, it fits in the side panel of the trunk, so you loose no space.
If you want to go stock, then dealer or ebay.

I have replaced the sub in my 2009 by an aftermarket one that does not take too much room:

Im thinking that if you dont want to go and have to install another amp AND custom sub encloser, you can probably just buy another 8" after market shallow depth sub that would cost less AND sound better with the B&O amp. Will probably have to sub out the speaker connector and thats it.

I'd like to see more info on that type of option if someone can share?

I went with a 10" 10C108 Kicker subwoofer. It fit perfectly with a spacer in the stock location. It was a nice improvement over the original BO subwoofer and with the stock amp. I later added an active LOC and an Alpine M500 amp to drive the sub, which improved the sound even more so. Spent less than $300, didn't sacrifice any trunk space and couldn't be happier with the results.

The stock amp was installed upside down, on the back side of the factory mounting bracket.

Made a plate to mount the Alpine amp on the stock amp bracket, and mounted the OEM amp on the backside.

The stock amp is mounted behind the Alpine amp.

Thanks A LOT for posting this. Will save me tons of time when I start this project....SO just to verify, the back deck lid went back on with no issues?

Any pics of sub from inside the trunk? Like how it hangs down?

Also, it looks like you replaced the stock amp entirely. Is this true? How did you power the rest of the car if so? Not sure why Im so confused from the pics. I need to take a look at my own trunk to see what im missing here.

Just took a picture of the trunk. Really does not hang too low. The spacer above the deck uses up at least an inch.

The stock amp is mounted behind the Alpine amp - see photos above on the mounting of the two amps. Stock amp will not be visible once the assemby is installed the vehicle, but it is there!

Back lid went on without issues.

Refer to the follow link for other ideas on similar installs.

Ok, saw the pics again...makes sense about the sub!

    Thanks!
