Go for it I say! If I do put a badge on I'm thinking of using the clips/screws for the euro plate to fasten it.

That could work, if you flip it the opposite direction, then adhere to the black plate area. You may see more of the plate than you want tho if not directly over a single honeycomb, depending on your badge size.

I went the 3M tape route so it could be removed if need be.
I looked at RS5 grilles to determine OEM positioning. I used the double sided tape to adhere to the points of contact, then flipped the grille and did a behind layer to make sure it stayed. Then I could trim back the excess so you can't see it unless you really go looking around the edges.

It turned out nice. It's going to be night and day difference once on.

It looks like fall where you took those pics Joel! Here everything is covered in slush and ice and snow, looking on the bright side I get a bit of sliding action. Some dude cheered me on as I did donuts in the intersection of a subdivision.

Yeah, there are a lot of trees around my house. The leaves left are the last ones that fell that didn't make the last grass cutting of the year. :) It's 51 (f) here today, so no snow 4 me.....

I do love my house. Have a ton of privacy and a great view, and like 5 min from downtown, but I have a hill for a driveway and not enough room for a garage which I hate. We're checking into getting a plot of land in a high end gated community that some friends own. We're gonna build our final place there. Just don't need that room quite yet, so I'm building equity in this place.

I had my wife's car out a few weeks ago when we had some snow & ice down for a few days. There was a big open parking lot and I told her lets do some donuts. She said, "No way!" So I did them anyway. She got over it.

And now I had my fun with the grille today...



Since the design of the Caractere bumper is different, some modifications had to be made. (notice that small triangular piece that was cut out of the grille and now on the ground)


The foam that sits in front of the crash bar has been removed and I've opted to use matte black vinyl to cover it. There were also slight tweaks to be made on the clips for the PDC sensors as they weren't quite deep enough for the PDC to clip on securely. After some work with rerouting the HomeLink transmitter and some tucking of cables connecting the PDC system, I'm pretty satisfied with the results.

That is pure sex. The RS grille fits on your car perfectly. Imo, if you get that RS grille, you MUST have the S-line front, with the same pattern on the mesh in the lower intakes. It just looks awkward otherwise. So, again, perfection man! Congrats!
I also would get that Caractere kit, and lowered mine, but then I wouldnt do so good on the roads of Middle East :D

You're right, the RS grille would be a perfect match for the honeycomb mesh in the S-Line. There are now aftermarket honeycomb fog grilles for the non S-Line fronts as well:

This would allow all Q5's to match the RS grille ;)

Where are you putting the HomeLink? I ended up moving it over towards the driver's side headlight and the signal/opener works just fine.

I put it in the middle of that crash bar top plastic piece for now. Will have to see how it looks in the daylight. Plus I have to figure out what I'm going to do with all the wires (didn't have that problem in my S4).

Yep, dark smoke... If I run into issues with the LEDs on my existing set, I just might go e-codes... :)

I'm working on mine but it's hard because there's no parts available yet haha! I'm waiting for Coilovers to come off backorder later this month and hopefully sometime soon someone drops an exhaust for the 3.0T
