just get coilovers, what you're trying to do is increase the wheel gap by increasing the tire, but you'll be using the wrong tire size and thats not the right way to do it. i mean you could get 40 tires on a 19" or 45 on a 20, but youll have thicker tires and it will just look a bit weird too, you'll be throwing off the speedometer, the mpg computer, etc. since the diameter will be different. and if you get 40s you'll have to decrease the sidewall, which will look even worse since you're not very low, and you'll have an almost stretched look but not even that low.
what you can do, it will still give the illusion of less wheel gap, you can get bigger wheels but just stick to the rated tire sizes. right now you have the 18s, and as an example lets say like 3 inch thick tires plus 1 inch wheel gap, total of 4 inches between wheel and fender. so when you get 20s lets say the tire decreases to 1.5 inch thick and wheel gap is still 1 inch, but now you'll have 2.5 inches between wheel and fender, so from far it will still look better than the 18s of course, will give illusion of less wheel gap with the bigger wheels.
that prob go confusing lol, but im sure u know what i mean. youll have the same wheel gap, but then the tire will decrease but wheels will increase in place of that so you'll have less 'black'/gap area between wheels and fenders.
