    Switching performance profiles/tunes for Dyno

I'm planning to go to the AWE dyno event on Jan 14th. I signed up for just a set of 3 pulls. My question is, would I be able to do 1 run of the stock 93 file, use the SPS to switch to the tuned 93 file and then do two runs and have that give me a good idea of the deltas? Basically, would using the SPS and switching between the maps be generating the right power? It should right?

I wont speak specifically for the Revo tune and their program switch but for APR there definitely is a calibration period when switching between maps.

You need to run the car for a few miles to have the computer adapt to the new file. I don't believe you will get a very accurate depiction of the difference from just changing via SPS without some adaptation.

When you guys say the ECU needs to be calibrated or adapt to the new file, what is it calibrating to adapt to the new file? Isn't the stock/tuned file basically a list of parameters for the ECU to follow? Given the environment parameters it experiences, doesn't it look to the file again to know how to respond accordingly?

Correct me if i'm out in left field or tell me to STFU since i have no idea what I'm talking about. Just trying to learn more.

Why not do the first 2 runs w/ the REVO 93, THEN switch to the stock file on the last run?

I think that would give more "accurate" results (as much as it can w/o adpation).

also I'm sure AWE has dynoed a few stock S4s (baseline) there. I mean it's not the best scenario but you can basically see what the car would generally put down stock from those files..

but I would dyno first with 93 tune two runs and do one run with the Stock file.

RichiB is going to be there (really good guy). he has Apr stage 2 with eurocode headers. he has dynoed there in past in several configurations I believe.

I might try and swing by to see the festivities and check out their exhaust which I'm tempted to buy. Gonna be some cool cars dynoing.

I asked APR about this when I added switching and I believe they said that after you switch tunes it will take approx 20 miles to fully adapt. You can feel a difference right after the switch but you are not getting 100% of what the switch will deliver until you drive the car enough to let the ECU adapt.

I thought during open-loop operation, the ECU ignores the external sensors and just inject fuel in / ignites the spark when the internal map (stock or tuned) tells it. It's only during close loop operation does the ECU monitor the engine and decide on fuel/spark based on the monitoring. It adjusts the values found in the internal map depending on the sensors.

If we're dynoing, wouldn't it be in open-loop operation since it'll be WOT?
