    This really happening.

Been using PD for years on grills and other random parts but have only joked about actually doing a whole car. But I'm gonna check my standard smart ass comments at the door cause this looks pretty damn good.

Can you guys post some high res images ITT? I'm really curious to see how the different parts look, especially the interior. Funny, I was actually kicking around the idea of PDing my lowers since my B6 is Dolphin Gray and the lowers are so close of a match that it makes them stand out more aginst the factory paint.

oh, no s? im the same-- that sounds fantastic.

i did PD two years ago, and when it came time to redip, i chanced upon this:

    http://www.krylon.com/products/nonskid_coating/

ive done my entire center console, ceiling lighting clusters, all front grilles, and eyebrows in that. but its different than PD, leaves a 'stone finish' for lack of a better term.

im debating going back to the PD Way since the new colors... match a Dolphin Grey?

How resilient is Plastidip? If i painted the front am i going to have to reapply after a year? I presuming once applied it washable...?

Would it be a good choice to protect the front end bits for say a winter road trip (5hrs each way, HWY, big trucks, lots of snow/salt/rocks)?

I guess I just don't understand this whole craze. I also have plasti dipped stuff on my car, where it makes SENSE, like emblems and chrome that I want black but it may not be forever.

But some things guys want to plasti dip needs to be painted with actual paint, its like they don't even know that regular paint exists anymore. I've read people wanting to plasti dip inside their headlights, their exhaust and random small things that just make more sense to paint with ACTUAL PAINT. This post is nothing against the OP, just something that I have noticed lately with alot of random people on the forums.

ok but your looking at the fact of actually doing it right for the whole car for a price of 119.00. if done right your looking at painting your car for roughly 150.00... great thing about it is that you can take it off whenever you want and dont ever have to worry about messing up really. i mean look at his audi up there in all 3 colors.. if i had the time and patience and skill set that it takes to do this i would tackle this in a heart beat. but yes i would really like to see high Res pics of the finished product.

This is a UPS fail - I'm not happy about it but there's nothing I can do to help. Shipping is not marked up a single cent. It's a hazardous material - it has to be shipped under ORM-D ground.. only legal way to ship it. That's exactly what it costs us to ship the product to you - other than losing money on shipping, I don't have a way to change it.

The shipping starts out kind of high but barely bumps up at all once you start adding cans/kits. I keep the prices as low as possible to compensate.

agree about the exhaust, lights, ect. Other pieces - wheels, window trim, roof, mirror caps, interior pieces - the cost factor and the fact that it can easily be removed are what pushed most people towards PD over paint.

Very resilient. We suggest you respray or at least check it once a year. If the correct coats are applied (4-5), it hold up great for a very long time.

I have many customers that order clear and use it as a clear bra for the front to protect from road debris.

No worries man, I come across this all the time. I ordered a can of VHT wrinkle paint and the shipping was high also. Where are you located, if you're close maybe I can swing by and pick some cans up.

Exactly, the parts you listed it make sense to use it on. As stated I have done some of it on my own car.

The idea of doing the whole car, is interesting though, LOL.

Wow! this is amazing. Question. Do the top coats like the metalizer and the clear still have that rough textured plati-dip finish or do they dry more smoothly? I'm asking cuz I'm thinking about using some of the metallic silver on my white wheels and I'd like the finish to remain nice and smooth.

Id like to purchase the clear for a bra. Will one can be efficient per car? Is it crystal clear or opaque? Will it allow light thru to allow uniform uv rays to absorb, or will it make my brand new paint job look darker under bra when removed?

Well, to be honest, if they are sprayed right, none of them will be textured. Not everyone is expected to be a pro at it - but if the coats are put on right and from the correct distance, even original plastidip will be smooth. The glossifier and metalizers are thinner though - and are easier to get a smooth finish with.

Because Lowes and Home Depot only carry black, and usually stock few cans at a time. They do not carry the white, red, clear, Glossifier, Metalizers, Create a Color, ect. Also, you can not get Gunmetal, or any other custom color anywhere else.

I just may need to try this out for some clear bra and possibly doing gold/bronze for some wheels I am too scared to do real paint on incase I hate it. Any more high res shots of the glossifier? I just want to see how it really looks before I plunk some cash down for a couple cans. Thanks!

I had a link to where a guy with an Infinti G35 had plasti-dipped his car. It looked good initially looked great but quickly turned bad. When he went to remove the PD it removed his paint as well.

The plastidip didn't remove his paint. The high PSI pressure washer the genius used to remove the plastidip due to him not putting enough layers on removed his paint.

This is great! I've been waiting for something like it for quite some time. I'm interested in seeing photos of surfaces that have gotten the high gloss silver treatment, do you have any to share?

I'm also looking to recreate a particular color for the centers of a set of 3-piece wheels that I own. It's a Porsche color called "steel gray" (Stahlgrau) and the code is P61W. Any way you can assist with finding the correct mix for that?
