    Transmission/Torque Converter Leak!!!

I recently purchased a 1998 A4 1.8t with front wheel drive. The problem is a major transmission fluid leak. I removed the transmission to see where the leak is coming from. Well, the torque converter bushing has dislodged from the transmission and is stuck to the torque converter.
Does anybody know if this is repairable? Thanks.

Stuck TO the torque converter, as you can't remove it? (Or I miss read and it got further in the trans, as in no depth stopper?)

It is stuck to the torque converter. It is supposed to stay in the transmission, but is on the torque converter outer shaft.

That part is all metal, at least on picture, it doesn't look like a seal.

It's the manual trans seal, (I know yours is a tip)

It's a rubber seal molded over a steel ring. Your seal must still be inside the trans housing.

I have heard that the transmission can be machined and a new metal sleeve can be purchased and pressed in. I plan to go to my local machine shop tomorrow for assistance.

Nevermind, I took a closer look of the TC.
Yes that metal ring, the bushing, should slide off (pressed)
Then the square-issh plate squeeze the transmission seal.

I would go to a transmission shop, they probably heat it until it expand enough to slide off.

I wouldn't put it back together without a trans rebuild. It sounds like exactly what happened to mine when it blew. That bushing should be integral to the front pump. If it snapped off or was ground away, there is no telling what got left in the transmission body in terms of metal fragments. Having pulled the valve bodies apart on these transmissions, I'll tell you that absolutely any debris can cause issues.
