B7 Exhaust on B6?? will it fit??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I need an exhaust for my B6 2003 a4 1.8 quattro/auto. My center muffler has a hole. I have seen lots of B7 exhausts for sale (used factory) and some OBX for the B7. They look very similar - can I buy a used B7 and just bolt it on?? Any sugfgestions - I don't want to spend a lot and that's why I'm looking at used! Thanks.

Everything from the DP back will be the same for your chassis. MT and AT considered the main differences.

So an AT B7 exhaust would be how much different from the MT B6 one? From the downpipe back, of course.

I doubt an AT would fit on an MY without modification and possibly fabrication. The auto trans is MUCH larger necessitating different downpipes and possibly other stuff too since the rear diff is different.

Everything after the down pipe is the same, B6<>B7, Auto tip or MT. The difference is the downpipe, specific to the MT or the Auto Tip box, regardless of chassis B6 or B7.

You can buy a B7 exhaust for your B6, but the DP won't work. So, final answer is if you're looking for a DP back system, a B7 AT will do the trick for you.

THis. The only difference btw B7, B6, MT, AT is the DP.

So to recap I can attach a b7 exhaust to the stock downpipe from my b7. And it doesn't matter if the b7 exhaust is from auto or manual? I need an exhaust now for my b6. Thanks

I think from whats said a B& Auto box will fit a B6 but not the down pipe as I can confirm they are different I think the tips stick out a little more then the B6 but that based on a Euro car.

I'm going to necrobump this thread cause its the most relevant thread I can find after searching which yielded little to no results..

B7 MT are all 6spd are they not? and B7 are the same frame/body as B6 just a remodeled front/rear...

    So, will a B6 6MT exhaust fit on a B6 5MT?

The downpipes between the manual/automatic and 5spd/6spd have different mounting points on the exhaust hangars and also might have different curvature. You also need to make sure the exhaust is from the same drivetrain. AWD exhaust will not fit a FWD car, whether B6 or B7. Same goes for a FWD exhaust not fitting an AWD car.

So only part that wont work is the downpipe?

the downpipe might fit/work, depending on how Miltek implemented the support bracket. AWE, for instance, uses the same downpipe for a 5-sp and 6-sp, just has an additional bracket to extend the mount position for the 6-sp.

Just wanted to add that the exhausts have a different overall length due to B6 A4 Regular rear bumper being longer than USP (Ultra Sport) rear bumper. They will fit and hanger locations are the same but the tips will either be hidden or sticking out when you interchange.

Hate to necrobump this thread, but I may be able to get a deal on a B7 A4 6MT 3" downpipe. Before I pick it up, would that fit a B6 A4 6MT? I currently have a stock DP and I was looking to upgrade that to complement my 034 HFC.

Downpipes are only different between MT and AT.
Since both cars are MT the downpipe should be swap-able.

Down pipes are different I'm afraid but the rest is the same as they have different mounting points but after that everything else fits. Also not the tail pipes will be longer than a b6

Five speed manual and six speed manual use different downpipes. The difference is the mounting bracket to the transmission. When I did my five speed to six speed conversion I just made an new bracket to adapt the five speed down pipe to a six speed. It took less than an hour to fab up.

Bringing this back from the dead...stupid question but are the B6 and B7 cats interchangeable? Dp’s are already established as different also depending on transmission and I know B6 is a 1.8 and b7 is 2.0 but both OEM and aftermarket look strikingly similar.
