    2012 Audi S5 or 2013 Audi S5 (refresh)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

I'm having a hard time choosing between these two cars. I know that the 2013 Audi S5 is more tunable but I'm not sure about the refreshed front end. I guess I would need to see one in person. I have not driven a 2012 Audi S5 with the V-8 though, probably will do that this week.

What do you guys think between these two cars?

    Thanks

I think the 2012 will be better for long term resale as the V8 will be more of a novelty with cars in this category opting for smaller, more efficient engines. It also sounds really good.

If your getting NAV then 2013 for sure. The refreshed interior and the new wifi MMI is pretty cool.

Cant lose with this choice but
2012 is more raw, 2013 is more refined.

raw > refined in my book

and JHM would disagree about the "tunable" part

No im just asking a question. Youre the one who seems to be 'ASSuming'. What else do you mean by 'jhm would disagree'? Im sorry if its completely beyond you to answer a simple question.

You should change your name to TrollS5. The statement is exactly what it is.

Jhm would disagree about the "tunable" part. Now where does it state that the 4.2 is MORE tunable than the 3.0 TFSI?

The op said that the sc v6 2013 s5 is more tuneable than the v8 2012 s5. You said jhm would disagree with that statement. How so? Do they think the 4.2 v8 is more tuneable (converse of op's statement)? It's a simple question. Sorry but i think youre the one 'trolling' if thats how you respond to a genuine question.

I'd have to agree with GSS5 on this one. The OP specifically stated the 2013 being more tune-able and no one ever mentioned the v8 NOT being tune-able at all. Since you were saying JHM would disagree with the tune-able part which was only mentioned by the OP then your statement is saying the v8 is more tune-able or completely irrelevant to this thread.... you pick.

Edit: he got to it before i did.

I had my 2008 S5 for almost 4 years (Dec 2007), until it was hit and totaled last month. It sucked really bad because I really really loved the car, especially because I had it modded perfectly to my liking. I have been contemplating a used RS4, 2012 S5, 2012 M3, 2013 550i because they were V8's (i love the sound) and available in Manual Transmission. Then thought about going 2013 M3 or 2013 S4 because of "tune-ability"... which would have better mileage and faster performance than the V8, so I decided for the FI option. Now that the 2013 S5 is FI, I'm going to place my order for another S5 when it becomes available (possibly next month?). Hopefully the overall weight will be less heavy too, but I'm sure the car will still feel a bit heavy handling still, but every bit helps. Being able to reach 300 miles between fill-ups will be nice :)

Even though the B8 S5 is still one of the nicest looking cars in my book, the B8.5 isn't so shabby either...

Agreed, at first I thought Audi turned the S5 into a Lancer Evo but after seeing some more real pics I have changed my mind

Audi won't make another vehicle as HOT as the 2007-2012 A5/S5 design in maybe 2 more decades in my opinion.
2013 models look very alike and some are just as ugly as apple pie; i.e. A8, A7.
A5/S5 have definitely lost their sex-appeal for 2013.
They look boring and sad and totally average, it may be time to get back to BMW in 2013.
