Hi folks, just wondering if someone could confirm which model OEM Ballast the Bi-xenon projectors have from factory.

Are they the Valeo LAD5GL Ballasts?

I'm sure Phil will chime in shortly, but we need a little bit more info... OEM Adaptive and Non-adaptive take different ballasts and honestly we would need your headlight model number to be able to tell for certain...

When I pieced together my Bi-xenons I found my adaptive ballasts on eBay for $220 shipped..

They are OEM Bi-xenons with the adaptive cornering function (but not using that function until I can afford the kit).

I guess I'll chime back in when I get the headlights in the mail!

However, can both ballasts be ordered from MOPAR instead of Audi? I've heard that buying from MOPAR is considerably cheaper.

Unfortunately, even if you decide not to use the adaptive/cornering function you will have to use an OEM Adaptive ballast. The adaptive and non-adaptive OEM headlights require different ballasts. Now, as far as the Kufatec harness you can order the one that doesn't provide the wires for the adaptive function and you will be fine(it is what I did during my recent upgrade). See this picture from another thread where someone asked the same type question and Jens (lowestA4) answered it. As you can see the Adaptive ballast has more pins and if those are not utilized you will throw codes all over the place. Hope this helps...

Are the Ballasts for the adaptive/cornering headlights available through MOPAR as well?

I believe the ballasts you are referring to were only a cheaper replacement for the B6's, I do not believe they will work with the B7 headlights..Regardless of adaptive or not.. I truly believe your only option is OEM, which is the best route to go anyways.. Just ensures you don't throw any codes or fitment issues.

Thanks for the info. $220 shipped is one hell of a deal! I'm seeing one of the ballasts sold for $175 on ebay right now! I'll see what I can get them for from Audi with my shop's wholesale price.

I believe that's what Automatic Headlight Range Control is. We also have the option for cars that have Automatic Dynamic Headlight Range Control With Cornering Light Circuit (AFS).

If there's something you need but isn't listed you can PM me your VIN and I can pull the exact part number which came on your car from the factory ensuring you get the correct one.

He had 2 sets :) So I'm still waiting to get them by the end of this week.

$300 for each ballast!! damn... I know I can get them for cheap on ebay (new) but I'm gonna check with Audi and my shop's wholesale discount first.
