Nice write up. You can clip the small white plastic that's attached to the 2 small LCD's instead of removing them.

I replaced my center LCD last weekend and it's nice to be able to read the screen again! So worth it.

Great write up! I also need to clean up the radio and climate control buttons-- especially the climate control. Assuming you are planning on doing a real removal/re-install for the clean up... do you mind posting a qrite up? I would love to see it, especially the removal. Thanks.

i've read through a few of these threads and i feel the answer is staring me in the face but i'm going to ask anyway: what supplier are you guys using for these screens? i have read that the oem ones are very hard to source and the non-oem ones are very bright and don't match well. i don't mind the latter so long as it doesn't look terrible. debating whether to take on this project myself or have mpower take care of it. seems pretty straightforward. can you guys please provide a direct link to the lcd screen you purchased and how you feel about it after installing?

I believe the issue you are seeing is due to the LCD screen not sitting right on the pcb. I had this issue, but after removing and re-seating the lcd, it displayed correctly. It was some time ago, but I remember powering it up while dismantled to troubleshoot, the digits should light up correctly once they touch the pcb properly.

I had this problem, too. All I had to do was just press down on the front of the LCD and it fixed it.

Im not at all askerrd of soldering on electronic parts, but this stuff is well worth the few extra dollars to have somebody with experience handle.
Just got mine back from daz and it turned out good as new.

Regardless of sending out or diy, get the oem screen!!
Not much more and the brighter ones would slowly drive me insane every time I looked at it and it didnt match the others
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

Very nice post. I've taken on quite a bit with this car, but this is one project I didn't trust myself with.
I went to Module Masters. They were really fast and the new screen looks superb. Well worth the $150 plus another $36 for FedEx two day shipping. It was back in under a week.
