Not sure this is all going to make sense, but hopefully someone might be able to make heads or tails of it.
My car has developed a bit of a vibration when accelerating. It gets really bad under boost, then smooths out once boost tapers off. What I think it is, is the fuel filter being clogged and not allowing enough fuel through when there's a high demand. Could also be the fuel pump for a similar reason, or I'm just talking out of my ass here.
At first I thought a wheel had gotten out of balance, but getting all four wheels rotated and balanced didn't get rid of the problem. I brought it to a mechanic and they couldn't figure it out, said I had bad motor mounts and worn tie rod ends and that was likely the issue but weren't 100% sure.
Anyway, I brought my car in to my usual mechanic to get the fuel filter replaced but they said the hose clamps were broken and did not want to take the old filter off for fear they couldn't get the new one in right.
Does anyone know what it would cost to have a decent VW/Audi shop or dealer replace these lines?
I'm trying to weigh the cost of getting this repaired, if that is in fact the issue, versus buying a new car. I love my car, but its rolling on towards 120k miles and is having some problems. I drive a lot for work (>8k miles/2months) and love the comfort and amazing fuel economy gives me, but having an unreliable car is out of the question.
