Oh crap; new blood at the dealership

Just had to vent. I discovered today that both of the Service guys (including the Service Manager) I deal with have left the dealership. I developed a good relationship with both and hope they simply found better opportunities, rather than some shady reason for they departure. They were great and "did the right thing" without charging me when I had certain nagging problems.

I have confidence in the ownership of the dealership but have an inclination to try to contact one of them using Whitepages.com to see if they went to another Audi dealership. I would consider following him for some of my needs.

I'm sorry to see that your go-to-guys have since left. As for me, I've been an Audi owner for just over a year now and am still trying to develop any type of relationship with my service guys like I had with my previous vehicle's service department. I feel like my local Audi dealership is not as accommodating and more "out-for-the-buck" compared with others in Northern CA. I guess I'll have to drive to the SF Bay Area for better service. So is life.

Having the go-to-guys are key. When they opened the second Audi dealership in the area and all my guys went to the new facality I have had to make the extra drive because they always did good work for me. It always gets me when they try to switch my service advisor up to the green thumb that does not understand when I am chasing down problems and has to go ask the shop foreman what I am talking about.

I just recently moved into an my first Audi from BMW and I can only say the service has been night and day. I spoke to my local service manager about some rust starting on a front fender and he looked at it but told me it wouldn't be covered under their new guidelines, so I went home thinking that would be the end of it. He called me at home the next day and told me to come back and he would take some pictures. One week later he emails me to say they will replace both front fenders and drivers door skin at no charge to me under warranty (it's an '05). They were a day late ordering my fenders so they also gave me a complimentary oil and filter change to compensate.

I've been very impressed with my service locally and having a go-to guy is definitely key, even worth switching dealerships for in my opinion.

+1. My local dealer has been nothing but headaches. I just chaulk it up as an opportunity to check out other shops. Luckily, I found a great vw/Audi independent shop closer to me than the dealer. I will never ever purchase a vehicle or bring y vehicle back to Brian Harris Audi located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

And yes I have filed complaints with AOA In which they took NO action in apologizing for every mistake they caused. Love the car, hate the dealer. Glad to hear there are still decent dealerships around.

You b7 guys need to start wrenching on your cars yourself! Geez!

I kid. Though I do hear a lot of complaining about stealerships on the b7 side that I never hear on the b6 forum. I guess b7s still have warranties...

My experiences have taught me that dealers are primarily interested only in collecting money and kicking your car out the door even if the job isn't done right. It'll take a lot of properly completed repairs/servicing to change my opinion on the topic. If dealers weren't so scummy overall, I might be a little more open minded about using them for servicing/repairs paid for out of pocket.

i take mine to a dealer for the SCHEDULED servicing just because I have audicare, and I'm happy that they have yet to screw up my car. if they continue to do a decent job, i might consider using them once that and warranty is up, though I have a local shop that I currently have preference for, so they might not get the chance.

either way, we aren't all mechanics, so having someone that can be trusted is important. imo this can make or break an ownership experience, so definitely understand how changing service personnel can be a little worrisome.

I definitely do wrench on my car when I can. Sometimes it requires special tools which I'm not paying for since it'll be used once. Main thing for most is time. I definitely do NOT have enough time to work on the car. As for other people, I dunno.

+1 on the time issue. HAVING to repair things yourself (and not having the option to take it to someone if you decide to) can really take the joy out of working on your car, especially if you have limited time to do so. It's therapeutic every once in a while, so I tend to do the preventative maintenance myself, but I have no desire to take over the heavy lifting on this car.

I have audi care and still won't take it to the dealer for free service. They have screwed up more than it's worth the "free" work

that is such an irritating feeling. unfortunately many dealers treat it like they aren't getting paid. it makes having a warranty or maintenance plan more of a hassle than anything. ive felt that way with past vehicles.
