if you car is equipped with Bluetooth which, by the looks of it, it is take you phone and go into settings and
look for "scan devices " or "discoverable" mode while you are in the car with the ignition off but car in accessory
the two will pair and ask you for i PIN which is generally 1234.

not sure if that's what you're looking for but good luck

When you scan for Bluetooth devices with your phone it'll say Audiuhv something. Connect to it. It's pretty much automatic after that.

What model year car do you have and with what options? "Telephone is not installed" seems to indicate there is some missing hardware from your setup. Did you do anything with VAG-COM?

My car is a 2008 Audi A4 2.0TDI. What options you ask for?
I have all the buttons in the car, on the steering wheel and with the gearshifter.
    I dont now more.

I have never used VAG-COM on that car.

Guys, he has bluetooth...He just doesn't know how to use it.

It's not that difficult. Get into the phone menu and press the SETUP button on your main console by the shifter. Then add a device while going to your phone and adding a device on there. Your phone will ask you to enter in a pin, enter 1,2,3,4. It will then connect and sync.

    You have to use bluetooth.

You have to read the manual.

You have to follow the instructions step by step.

If this does not work for you, go to the dealer and have them help you with it. So far, what you've shown and stated is very standard stuff and nothing out of the ordinary as far as you having a defective system or lack of options.

Bluetooth is on, on my Iphone.
But i cant search/find devices from my car. When I go into the phonemenu on the mmi-screen it stands "Telephone is not installed" like the pictures, and i have no alternatives for scan or find device. If I press the SETUP button, nothing happends.

You do not search for devices from your car.

    On your iPhone:

    Settings -> General -> Bluetooth

There should be a "Devices" area where it should say "Searching". After if finishes searching you will see something along the lines of Audi UHV or Hands Free.
Select that one and it will ask for a password.
    Type in: 1 2 3 4
Then hit pair on the bottom right corner.

After that you should be all set to go. It might take up to 30 seconds to pair, you should see your cell phone's reception bars on the bottom of the MMI screen when it is successfully paired.

I get a "Telephone is not Installed" message when my bluetooth is turned off on my phone. The error message is pretty generic. For cars with bluetooth it would be nice if it said, "No bluetooth device found" but it doesn't... at least not on my 2G MMI bluetooth equipped car.

The OP should first ensure that bluetooth is installed in his car, and if so, go through the standard pairing procedure.

Jason, take the car to the dealership and ask them to look at it and tell you if you have bluetooth. If they say you do, ask them to pair the phone. If they say you don't ask them how much to install bluetooth.

Good advice but I'm not the OP. I was merely trying to inform folks that the error message is not indicative of missing Audi hardware.

The above instructions look good, and if they fail, I'd agree that a dealer visit is likely the next easiest solution: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...=1#post7014326

Maybe that message is 2G specific. My non MMI message is "It is possible that your phone is not connected..." (or something like that)
"Telephone not installed" seems more of a "you are missing required hardware" type of message whereas my message suggests that the phone is not connected.
However, you said you got the same message on your 2G, so I guess we can't prove if the OP has bluetooth or not based on the message.

What I'm basically saying is - don't rule out that he doesn't have bluetooth.

okay, thanks for good answers ..
I can not check if I have bluetooth device, without going to my audi dealer? I have tried the step by step as the users manual says.
I know how this will work, when is only to connect mobile and car. That have I done before, on another car. Can I check it with VAGCOM? Or can I check with equipment codes? Is 120km to my nearest Audi dealer.

Guys, as mentioned this is a ROW car. It has different phone options than we have. Not only is Bluetooth an option but so is phone specific cradles and a full integrated handset. Bluetooth is an option on ROW cars so there is a good chance the car doesn't have it.

Don't suppose you have any type of base or cradle installed in your centre armrest?

ROW = Rest of World - meaning not North America. You do live in Norway, right?
North American cars come standard with a lot of features that are options in other countries.

When the phone is found it comes up with a pin code on the MMI screen. You type the pin code into the phone and your done.

I agree with the others that have said because it's a ROW car you might not have bluetooth installed. I'm curious about somthing though, what happens when you are in the telephone menu and you press the SETUP button near the MMI knob?

I just bought an 2010 a4 Quattro 2.0t premium.. I have a concert stereo with the controls below the air vents. I have a single CD player, 1sd slot, satellite radio and ami… I also have a phone button and when pressed it says telephone not installed. Also the options to press anything are transparent… Im wondering if I need to access it via vcds. I just bought a cable with two vins remaining, and am about to install vcds in the morning…

And nothing happens when I press setup, it stays on the phone not installed screen.. Anyone have this issue?

If you don't have the HomeLink buttons in the overhead unit above you, you don't have the HomeLink+Bluetooth package. Is it something that can be activated via coding? Don't know.

Scan the car with VCDS and look for Address 77-Telephone; that's the external telephone prep Bluetooth module, usually installed under the passenger seat. --g
