    Anyone Wrinkle Paint Throttle Body?

I just got my intake mani powder coated and thought it would be cool to do the TB as well. The 400 degrees seems like a bit much on the TBs parts. Maybe the 200 degree wrinkle paint would be better? Just wondering if anyone has done it and how much of the TB should be taken a part for 200 degree cure.

You definitly don't want to disassemble the TB. The way they are assembled, does not allow for practical disassembly and reassembly. For example, to remove the throttle plate screws, the screw staking must be ground or filed away before removing the screws, then the staking must be re done to lock the screws in place after reinstalling them. Even if this is done successfully, the position of the throttle plate on the throttle shaft, is difficult if not impossible to get re-positioned correctly after removing the plate from the throttle shaft. If not repositioned right, the throttle will bind in the throttle body bore. Then, there are other parts of the assembly that are fastened together using methods that don't provide for disassembling, to do so, the parts most often are damaged or destroyed trying to take things apart. A wrinkle paint process that does not require more heat than the TB sees in a hot engine bay would be the only practical way to to this.

I used VHT wrinkle spray paint. Masked off areas I didn't want painted and gave it a few good coats.

    Turned out nicely
