Unable to access Bose "hidden" menus

I read that with the Symphony Bose Head unit you can access an equalizer and other "Hidden" adjustments by pushing combinations of buttons. For the equalizer you push and hold the 5th preset button while you turn on the radio and it should come up. I have been trying to do this but it does not work. I have a 2006 A3 S-Line, does this not work with all Symphony Units?
