996 turbo is a typical "next move" for B5 S4 owners.

Carbon Buildup B7 RS4s are definitely different.

Both are going to run you about the same cost at this point. I'd recommend driving each. Oh, and if you thought maintaining a B5 S4 was costly...GL with the 996T.

    996 w/bolt on GT30's and fueling makes ~700hp. RS4 with a (expensive) supercharger kit makes ~550

Go and drive both of them. They are very different cars, but you can't really go wrong with either of them.

I'd say RS4. I have never liked the look of the 996, and the 997 is pure sex but of course there's a pretty big price difference when comparing the turbo models.
Do you have a daily driver? If you're looking for the performance factor then obviously 996, but if you want a little of both (Performance and comfort)while still being able to haul 3-4 people then get the RS.

Both are good cars. I think I would go with 996 or 997.

Do you want a two door sports coupe with a turbo, or a 4-door V-8?

RS4 still keeps its cool and doesn't scream look at me... Although I love the 996/997's but you can't drive them here in the winter. Good luck, Whish I was selling my car and saying which one of these fancy cars should i get :(...
