Converting my sedan to widebody, is 3k$ for the work a good quote?

Converting my sedan to widebody, is 3k$ for the work a good quote?

If this sounds reasonable, I will get it in the shop and post pics of progress.

And on a sidenote, does anyone know where I can pick up the rs4 side skirts?

Sorry to threadjack but what's involved in making it a widebody? Custom fenders and quarter panels but anything else?

EDIT: ok, now I see its not an RS4 widebody... nevermind. Good luck with that; if the shop is doing actual custom fabrication, I'd expect the bill to go up.

If thats a real quote, thats a stellar price for installation. People have paid considerably more just to integrate the rear quarter panels, let along getting the rear bumper to flare, swapping doors, etc.

I don't think that for $3K a competent shop would even touch an S4 wide body conversion. This sounds like a hack job.

I realize that you're doing a "custom widebody" and not an RS4 conversion, but $3k/$60 per hour = 50hrs. If this shop thinks that they can cut, pull, weld new metal and paint for $3K I think they're a little optimistic. A decent respray with no body work is $3K.

The shops rep is not in question here, as long as you think 3k$ is a good price for this (does NOT include spray) then ill move on it. Thx!

Bumpers pulled? Don't you mean RS4 bumpers installed front and rear?

i'm kind of confused on exactly what you mean by widebody here. a true rs4 widebody runs close to 10k in labor at a reputable shop. your list suggests you won't be going that route. like fourplay said, no new bumpers? i can't believe you can actually go widebody using stock bumpers. rear doors pulled? how is that possible?

The above should answer your question. Also, I did not say I was doing an rs4 conversion, I only asked where I could buy rs4 side skirts.

If someone in Cali can do this type of "custom wide body" conversion for $3K PM me his info, I'll drop off my car.

You can purchase the OEM RS4 side skirts through various vendors: OEM plus, Avalon motorsports, GMG, Europrice, 034 motorsports, 2bennet racing, etc. Nobody lists prices, so you'll have to call them. I think the price range is from $1500-2000. Given that just the OEM S4 side skirt conversion from an A4 to S4 costs $1000.

Good luck with your build. Keep us posted.

It's not like I've actually gone NB -> WB but 3K doesn't seem like too short on the labor of taking an S4 NB -> S4 WB. He's not talking about lumping in 10k worth of OEM RS4 parts, at the most he's talking about sideskirts and not factoring that into the price.

Now, if that was 3k w/ paint I'd be a little concerned that you're getting the maaco treatment, but if it's 3k for some body work that sounds like a good homie hookup. I have a buddy who will do the work for less up here, granted, it's going to be shit, they've never touched an Audi and I'd never let them touch paint but it's still in the ballpark of what OP is looking at. Same buddy had his shop straighten and repair another friend's totaled front-end collision S14. Sure, the thing will never evenly burn tread again but 1500 to get it back on the road was a great deal.

I am soooo excited to see what a 3k wb looks like.

That's close to what I paid for my rs4 bumper, front reapray, and labor.

3k is going to be a major fuck job with bondo and rattle cans.

This includes no parts, I would be providing all the parts. 3k$ is for cutting and welding new metal on the fenders and flaring the front/rear bumper.

Just reread... That's dirt cheap. I'd get everything in writing, have a good attorney on hand, and be prepared for lots of stress.

Here's what you should do. Find a single person who you've seen his work and can confirm it. If he won't do it on the side keep looking. I cut about 5k off my final bill by cutting out the shop overhead and paying directly to the guy responsible for my end product.
They want you afraid of your neighbors, your community, your family, your ability to support yourself, terrorists, climate change, China, Russia, Covid. As long as you are afraid, and won't unite red or blue, they win.
