    HPFP Replacement Bad MPG

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
After the dealer replaced my HPFP, cam and cam follower I have noticed pretty poor city mpg (16-17) where I used to get 20...Is it possible that the tech didn't dial the pump in for best mileage?

there is no dialing in for the pump. The cam completely controls that.
Possibly your cam was worn, and you were not getting the full stroke out of your HPFP, which means rail pressure would be down and possibly better mileage?

^^^This is one hell of a stretch.

Also, I get about 20mpg city...

I would check for and codes being thrown.

No codes being thrown...Everything was replaced under CPO, I made an appt to bring my car back in on Thursday....I just know they will drive it and say "nothings wrong mpg is fine" when i know i'm not where i used to be.

    Highway is fine btw...almost 28mpg

maybe it is just the whole ECU being unplugged for a while reset driving habits. Everyone says if you clear those, it feels like a whole lot more HP?

I had my DV and PCV replaced under warranty by dealer and noticed appalling gas mileage for the first tank or two. I figured it might be something to do with ECU relearning driving habits or something and have now got the mileage I used to get

So you are back to normal now?

I would wait it out 500 miles or so

Yes. Work was done about 3 weeks ago and the first week I was like "WTF??", averaging less than 20 or so mixed. Am now back around the 24-25 mixed with average lead foot usage

you know, right after getting a brand new HPFP is the best time to upgrade internals to a HigherPFP! ;-)

yes, but that isn't replaced for free by audi when it fails! Should I cancel my appt? I have put about 300 miles on the car so far.

Since i have to make an appt a week in advance i'll just bring it in anyways...plus they still need to fix my faulty brake pad indicator warning sensor.
