The inside line article mentions that the refresh S4 gets a ''revised air intake'' among the other cosmetic changes.

+1 - Interior updates are really nice. Updates steering wheel with better multi-function controls, alu window switches, update MMI controls, etc.

Autoblog has a write up... I found this interesting :

"Audi is also introducing a new electromechanical power steering system for the 2013 A4."

Wonder what this will do to the steering feel - Audi's not known for it being wonderful in the first place.

That was my first thought...think the current front end is really the main part that makes ours look aggressive. Definately looks more bland without.

Isnt the new style of led drls the same as I an seeing on the new chrysler 300 commercials?? If so, no good...

I think they facelift so much more cohesive in styling than our current one. Everything just feels like 'the natural next step'. I wouldn't have minded if B8 came out like this in 2009. Our version is not bad at all, but now that I've seen the facelift, it looks just slightly less put-together by comparison.

Front end and rear looks like the current Jetta. All the lines are smoothed over with no body sculpting. Very unappealing and little character left. Looks very blah

^ they didn't touch any of the body lines. LOL. As far as I can tell, the only difference is in the head and tail-light shape. Which seems to require new hood and trunk panels and bumpers. B8 A4 body lines have always been sorta blah. The B8 A5...now that has some hips and curves.

It looks like the trunk panel is different, but the rear quarter panel isn't. If so...I wonder if we can use the 2013 S4's rear bumper for Quad exhaust setups. The lip near the valance is just that much more pronounced without being obnoxious. I love it.

I keep thinking about the all-road, it looks mean. If only Audi would bring it to the states in manual.

Well, my first impression was "ooo", then I kept looking.

Likes:
- New slimmer headlight housings. I think they make the hood and nose look more aggressive (see Dislikes)
- Slimmer grill, tighter lines in the corners. I think the sharper edges come off well against the new front fascia and really accent the hood lines more.
- New rear spoiler lip. This appears (at least to me) to be slightly more pronounced than ours. Could be the angle, but I think it is.
- Interior relatively untouched. Good news I think, since Audi is still class leader in this department. I hate the 2013 3-series interior by comparison.

Dislikes:
- Front fascia lower ... half. All of it. From the over sized gaping fog light areas filled with more plastic than ours to the more pronounced splitter and flattening out of the flares in the front. Really don't like.
- New LED lights in headlamps. I like the style, but hate how it wraps the entire housing and then leaves a gap where the headlight is. Could you imagine seeing those coming at you and would you find them attractive or impressive? I wouldnt. I like the lines our LEDs follow, they could have gone simpler here and still come out as impressive.
- Front grill inserts. At least on one of the S4 shots, appeared to be shiny? The avant isn't, so maybe its just a play on the camera.
- Speaking of the Avant, the huge fog light areas on this as well - more plastic and since its all covered, its their without purpose except to exaggerate the lines of the car.
- New lip over the lower rear insert, where body meets plastic over the tailpipe. Draws the eyes down to force them to stare at the plastic insert in the first place. Why? Not to mention it will be annoying to detail :P
- Same HUGE side mirrors. Not sure why Audi insists on such large mirrors, but my wife's Honda Pilot has smaller side mirrors. Just sayin.

Werd. I'd totally switch out the grill with the one for the refresh sedan, paint the lower body panels body colour and dump it on the ground!

I agree with you Rayn_t. The facelift is better. The protrusion on the bottom front lip is still there too if you look at the video. People just don't like change especially when it's their own ride being "facelift" as if theirs was not good enough. =) I'd trade my 09 in for a 13 anytime. In time the old shape will look just.....old. Every year a new car comes out and i think "wow, its never going to look any better then that" and every year the new model comes out and it looks better.

I guess it is hard to make changes of consequence whe you did a good job initially. I wouldn't mind seeing a diesel engine making it to the US, however.

To the untrained eye, nobody will notice the difference between my 2012 and this 2013. I mean look at it from the side, this is the same car.

That is the beauty of evolutionary styling, like they only changed the look maybe 10% from the 2012. BFD.

I have noticed the Koreans will change models drastically between body style restyles.

Plus, this is still a B8.

And let's face it, a B7 or B6 is still a good looking car.

The new design grows on you.
The wide body all-road is hot!
Paint the fender flares, rear diffuser and front spoiler body color, put in some KW V2's and slap on some lightweight 20x11 wheels and WOW!

Or you could just buy a dark grey version then the plastic would match from the get go.
Too bad we would never see it here. Would compete with their SUV lineup too much.

This is the first time I thought an allroad looks hot. Not just decent, good or nice - but absolutely brilliant.

Looking at that Allroad, I can almost believe that they styled the A4/S4 to looks more calm and german, while all the fun and edge in the styling got poured into the allroad.


Can't wait to see someone do a proper drop and wheels on the new S4.

My impressions:

** looks just like the Jetta from front and back.
** Not as aggressive as the current model
** like the new lights

Also commenting on the steering comment above, I think the steering is amazing on the Audis. But then again, I'm coming from a Nissan..
