2008 A6 Avant with high mileage worth buying?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm looking into a White 2008 A6 Avant S-Line with 93K miles for $23000. Is this worth getting or I'm I going to run into too many problems. The Audi Dealer is selling it and has done the full service to it including removing the intake and manually removing the carbon. The car feels solid.

    Here's the specs:
    - White (I want white)
    - S-Line
    - All packages Technology, cold etc.
    - Adaptive air suspension
    - paddle shifters.
    - 7 spoke 19" wheels with summer tires (well taken care of, he had winter wheels).
    - Exterior is great with no dings or scratches.
    - Interior is also very good.

I think it has every single option except adaptive cruise control.

    Thanks in advance.

I'll say what I tell everyone. My 06 I bought with 92k miles two years ago. Now I'm at 150,000 miles and have had no problems.
The dealer replaced the coils and a recalled fuel sensor pressure unit but that was nothing... I've done oil changes myself and done nothing else.
Now, Cosmetic wise the buttons on the intr ( Push button start/stop, windows etc...) are starting to flake. Which sucks but just common wear and tear.

I drive her very spirited and even ran her 48 laps at Nashville Super Speedway Road course event.

Not saying yours won't have any problems, Maybe ive been lucky. But get it carfaxed and checked out and from my personal experiance I'd say got for it. Although I paid less, and you can find them for less. I wouldn't pay that much,

Edit: Yeah thats not a bad price with the options. I wish I had paddle shifters./ I do have a heated steering wheel tho

I would go for it. If the dealer offering you any sort of "Certified Pre-Owned" warranty? Even for some extra cash?

I would most definetly take it. These engines last for a good while if serviced. So as long as you are a service nut like me, you shouldn't run into any major problems :)

JPJ2007... you give me hope. Sounds like I'm in the same situation you where 2 years later.

Unfortunately it's not CPO but they said I can purchase an extended warranty - probably will be expense. I'll need to check how much. I do my own maintenance I am anal with with it.

So far the feed backs are encouraging. I really want the Ibis White. I found a lot of other deals in within my price range but mostly 2006 but none white.

Here's pic of a similar Avant but without the LED DRL. Same color and wheels.

    Is it a 3.2 or 4.2

My largest "regret" is not getting a 4.2 but when I got it I never though I could ever have something so amazing and nice. lol So the V6 wasn't my main concern.

Hows the power of the 3.2? Real fuel mileage? Did they make the 3.2 in a 6spd avant?

The power, Well being at the base of the engines its abov. not the 4.2 or the S6 5.2
I will say, Those who ride in my car are surprised it's a 3.2 V6 for being such a heavy car. 4,200lbs.
It's not bad, It picks up and goes. But by no means is it Quick.

Hell, I have more fun in my 1987 BMW 325IS 5Speed. That lil POS car will chirp 3rd gear and it has 300,000 miles!

Heres an exhaust video. And Note please: It's MUCH deeper in person, this camera is incased in a waterproof plastic case which only picks up the "Highs" and Mids of the sounds....

I actually get rly good MPG when I'm not in the throttle. Hwy at 80mph I can cruise getting 32 or 33mpg. And I have 150,000 miles!

I think that the power is average to good. It isn't the best but if I shift it into sport I get a lot of get up and go. In the city in stop and go traffic I get about 24 and on the highway 32 or 34.

C6 Avants are only avail in 3.2L V6 with tiptronic here in the US. EU gets all the good stuff! I get anywhere between 20-24mpg in mixed driving. We recently took a Socal trip and I got around 26-27mpg. And that's going 85-90mph all the way up/down the 5! Not bad for a big car and still much better gas mileage than any non-hybrid SUV!

    Good luck, Ron.

Same here, 22-24 city and 28-30 on the highway. Really need to put it in sport mode to get the most out of it. You will always want more power no matter what you drive IMO.

    Update:

I didn't buy it. They couldn't give me a disclosure letter saying the car is AS-IS and there are no problems with the car at the time of the sale. So the workaround to the letter was if I paid for a pre-purchase inspections... do wouldn't do it. I repeatedly ask if there was any problems and told me non but could put in writing. Since I wasted so much time and I don't want anyone else to get a bad buy with a non CPO car... the dealer is North Shore Audi. Btw if you research their name there's a couple of bad reviews on them.

This past Wed. I bought a 2009 A4 Avant (Prestige) CPO with 59 miles. Meteor Gray Pearl. It had a "perfect" service history with the major 55k service performed and another oil change at $59k along with brand new tires and other little stuff. Here's the specs from their website:

Audi Certified!! Prestige!! Navigation!! Audi Drive Select Package (Adaptive Suspension Damping System, Drive Select Controls, and Dynamic Steering System), Navigation Package w/Rear Backup Camera (Color Driver Information System), Trunk Storage Package, 6-Speed Automatic, AWD, Black w/Leather Seating Surfaces, Advanced Key Keyless Start/Stop, Audi Music Interface w/iPod Cable, Audi Rear Parking System, Audi Side Assist Lane Change Assistant, Auto-Dimming Exterior Mirrors, Auto-Dimming Interior Mirror w/Compass, Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone Interface, Chrome Trim Around Side Windows, Heated Front Seats, HomeLink Universal Garage Door Opener, LED Daytime Running Lamps, Light Sensor, Memory For Driver Seat and Exterior Mirrors, Power Tailgate, Prestige Package, Rain Sensor, Three Zone Climate Control, and Xenon Plus Headlights.
