Very interesting indeed! I like it too.. you're definitely doing something different and who can't say they don't appreciate that.
I think it's good that you left the gas door white, i know this was inspired by the r8 blades and i believe on a white car with black blades the gas is white as well.

I don't think it is possible to get an R8 look with dip/paint on an S4.

How about some big-ass Audi rings (minus all the racing logos):

you're 100% right.. it's not possible to get an r8 look on an s4. just took some cues from the r8 blade with the edge following the door seam, ect.

You guys don't really think that looks good, do you? It looks ridiculous, especally the white gas door. Paint your mirrors and be done. Just my opinion of course...

lol, relax. the guy runs a PlastiDip based company, can you really blame him for experimenting and playing around with the stuff

i think it looks cool.. but wouldnt suggest to keep it on very long.

Yeah not my cup of tea at all, but it is different and would stand out in any crowd of usual suspects. As a designer I find it's ok to break the rules once in a while as long as your pushing the limits or stepping outside the box of normal design. I do think the gas door should be covered as well even though that isn't the case on R8's. In the end, do what makes you happy, it's your car, you pay for it, and you drive it. Have at it. Thanks for letting us see it and opening up the door for comments...positive or negative.

I'm curious to know how well that would last through a winter season, rock chips probably wouldnt look to nice...

It was cool until I saw the roof..gloss black roof with flat black sides isn't working for me. But to be helpful and offer a suggestion I'd say do the same thing again but with som glossy 3M Di-noc.

Thanks for all the feedback! Really enjoy playing around with this stuff and sharing the results, regardless of how it comes out.

The dip is incredibly resistant to rock/debris chips. It's too soft to be cracked or chipped. My front grille, for example, has been dipped for 8 months and doesn't have a scratch on it after 90 miles of highway driving 5 days a week.

If it was an A/S5 maybe Id like to see it. The fact that its a four door throws it off. The other thing that came to my mind was Starsky and Hutch.

However, when I read the thread title, I thought you meant the blades that run below the doors. I may have to try dipping them on my car and see how they turn out.

Well done following the flow of the wee rear window down the sides, I think it's sweet! Lots of potential there for sprucing up your car a bit for the track!

Any word Fonz on how long the metallic colors will take for development?

I don't have a problem with you having great imagination and creativity, but personally I think it looks horrible... There was only one way to find out if it looks good or not I guess.
