    VAST and EGT Delete

So in my misfires thread, it also says the left EGT sensor is bad. As everyone here knows, it's a small investment to purchase these replacements and they now want you to buy both. In researching these, I found VAST offers a delete of the EGTs with their ECU upgrade. I'm not racing my car, at least not yet, but if it's not really needed (I do understand it seems to be a safety measure), why not code it out? So I'm looking on thoughts on this. If I just want the EGT delete with the tuned ECU, it's $650. $750 for a host of deletes. VAST ECU.

Note to VAST: $150 to delete just the EGT???? Man, that must have been one hell of an engineering effort!!

I've done a search, but didn't come up with much. Seems the VAST ECU generally gets a thumbs up, so wondering if folks have added the deletes as well.

I would check out nefmoto, I wouldn't be surprised if you could diy an egt delete yourself with a vag-com cable.

I won't give any more many to vast, their reputation as of late has been going downhill.

Pretty much ALL the info you'll need is in here. http://s4wiki.com/wiki/Tuning

Whether you choose to read it and give it a shot is up to you. Spend an hour reading, another hour coding, save $150. Why the hell not.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the info. Now, the next question is what's the risk of doing it? Are the EGTs really just a safety measure?

EGT prevents the turbos from getting too hot and cooking themselves. Boost is restricted and limp mode goes into effect, once the EGT CEL comes on. I'd pass on the delete and replace them....most likely the last ones the car will ever need.

That's a good point that I probably won't have to replace them again.
