As much as I would love to be working on my car this weekend, I'll be focusing on the wife's car (02 Xterra). Its getting a new timing belt, water pump, seals, thermostat, and plugs and wires. And hopefully the damn thing will stop overheating whenever you sit for more than a minute

    Working on this bitch......

Re-reouting oil and coolant lines, fixing a coolant leak, installing my shaved/powdercoated upper coolant pipe, cleaning up the engine, re-routing some wires in the bay, and adding some other goodies.

.......oh and my buddy is coming over to pull the engine/trans from his B5S4 so we can fix his leaking input shaft seal and fix a vacuum leak on his drivers side turbo inlet pipe.

Oh, well, actually I've got a nice little Saturday planned. I'm gonna clean my windshield with invisible glass and a fine microfiber cloth. Maybe some rain-x. I don't know. I don't know if I'll have enough time.

yeah be patient and gentle as possible (with the twisting and pulling) on those hoses/lines attached to it and SAI if you decided to remove them to get more room for your hands.. they break.
I broke a couple and decided to just remove all of it for good. lol

Maybe polishing my headlights. Not sure I have the motivation to re-aim them when I re install them. I've read that DIY linked in EVO's thread and it just makes so little sense to me when I read it. Does it make sense once you start laying tape down?

I'll probably just wait until I buy some new projector lenses and do it all at once so I don't have to aim the lights twice.

Otherwise trying to figure out what to get my girl for her Birthday coming up. I would get her a Symphony II+ for her b7 but she would probably slap me

Oh yea definitely installing the Whispbar onto the avant. Love that thing!

Question for avanters with a roof rack: I know leaving the rack on going through the carwash can be dicey. Is it ok when there are no attachements on? I have this one:

I have a friend with a mk4 jetta who left her rack on through the carwash with a bike attachment and ski holddown and it got totally fucked. I'm thinking with the roof rails and the relatively flush install of the rack I have it'll be fine to leave on year round right? I of course would take the shitty yakima skit rack holddown off.

I didn't get super scientific with the aiming when I did mine, but to each his own I guess. I like having my lights aimed as flat as possible without constantly shining in other people mirrors. Since I am lowered if I followed the standard aiming rules my beam would be much shorter than a stock cars beam. All I did was pull up along side a long wall on the passenger side (preferably with bricks or some reference to horizontal) and then just aim them slightly down from horizontal. Then I pulled up to a wall facing it and adjusted the left housing to match. I know it isn't the "proper way" to aim them, but I don't want them aimed down so far that I have no distance at all. I have yet to have anyone flash high beams at me with them aimed like that both before and after my retrofit. I will be honest the aiming instructions for the proper way to do it are a little confusing to me as well.

    Oh pics for sure.

Also might try to diagnose a fun new noise from a vac line. Summary is tacked onto the end of this thread if anyone has any tips. I'm thinking SJP (or JSP whatever) but who knows. Might have to remove it and see what the deal is...

No time for car this weekend, maybe squeeze in a wax tomorrow night after another 10 hour work day. Sunday is supervisor meeting's for our new ski lodge... missing out on all the local Fall cruise runs unfotunately.

Edit- ordering a set of new wheels for the B6 and putting together an autohausaz.com order of many OEM parts to keep the car running in tip top shape.

^^^Careful with the work u take to 034 they were gonna charge me $1700 to assemble my own upgrade parts parts into a rebuilt motor......

haaaaaaaa I'm not that big of a sissy. I'll buy engine building materials, parts, and books - and train myself to do the job like everything else I've done to my car up until now b4 I pay that big of a price.

Good Luck with the M3 stuff.
If I remember correctly all the exclusive parts are a good 20-50% more than the std 3-series parts.

This weekend I'll be hemming about 5 pairs of jeans and cracking open Forza Motorsport 4. And oh, almost forgot, Sunday is my wife's and mine first year anniversary. Nice dinner and a night full of baum-chicka-baum.
