Retrofit Back up Cam 3G MMI :: Kufatec

My father is going to buy a 2012 S5 tomorrow, but it does not have a back up camera nor parking sensors. He's buying the car from my work and I get some pretty nice discounts, but he wants a back up camera.

Kufatec makes a back up camera retrofit solution for the 3G MMI. Kufatec also says that if your car is not equipped with parking sensors, you have to send in your main MMI unit in order for it to be modified to work with the back up camera.

Has anyone installed the Kufatec back up camera system on their car? If so, how was the difficulty?

also, when i went to get my 2012 they told me that they would call me back and install that stuff when it arrives. Dont you guys get that?

The back up cam and things that weren't initially offered for the 2012?

ecrew, that's what I was trying to ask you on the phone. 2012 initially didn't come with backup cams as there was shortages due to the japan quake. If the car came with backup prep, then audi should retrofit the parts for you when the officially get in.

Oh ok, got it. I didn't see anything on the sticker sheet, I assume they would post that pretty boldly. I'll look into more at work tomorrow morning.

Just for informational search purposes,

The only 2012 cars that are prepped for a back up camera are cars that are also equipped with parking sensors.

I've done this to my previous S5 Sportback with MMI 3G and front and rear parking sensors. Installation is pretty straight forward, you just need to run some wires from the MMI unit to the back of the car for the camera module and the camera itself, and also some VAGCOM tweak, of course.
