2002 Audi A4 Stock Wheel Color Choice (?)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey, guys! I have a dolphin gray 2002 A4 base model with the stock 15 inch alloy wheels that look like this:

Not a big fan of them, but I don't have the funds right now to drop money on some nice rims. :(
Is there anyone that has painted or powder coated them before?
If so, I'd like to see some photos so I could decide on what to do, if anything.
I was thinking of going black...maybe? What do you guys think? Yes, no, maybe so?

Yay for my first post on Audizine.

No cash. I'm just really bored with my car and I have some paint in my garage.
Thought it would be a nice little experiment, but apparently not. Haaa.

Do it Right....Or don't Do It At All.....

I'll second Kneel's suggestion, lowering should not be an expensive proposition, furthermore the whole car has to be one connected and seamless theme.
Be patient and do it with class, It's an Audi, not a Honda Civic. I ( I used to have a Civic SI but German cars demand a different approach )

Black wheels look best on a Dolphin Grey or at the very least an Atlas Grey.

I would suggest waiting for something like a set of Gunmetal VMR's to come up on the A-zine classified's, there should be a reasonably priced set showing up soon...
In the meantime make sure your A4 is up to specs mechanically, a stranded A4 doesn't do much with higher end mods when mechanicals are critical...

always lower first. If anything, find a set of used 17 sport wheels.

let me just reiterate.... dont do anything and just save your money...

    Two different examples...

Spray painting stuff to make your car look better just ends up looking tacky. spray painting stuff on a modded car (where you actually spent money on the exterior), thats a different story.

Taking a bone stock, especially a base model, and spray painting stuff makes me think of "ghetto modding"..... However, spray painting a few things on an s-line is different simply because "looks" are already there.

Makes sense. I couldn't decide on whether or not it'd look good because I've never seen it done.
And I guess I know the reason for that now, haha. I've been around Hondas for a long time and
am still learning about what should be done with these German guys. And this is my first car...
so I have to learn a lot about them in general. Ahh.

As for making sure it's mechanically sound, I'm already on top of that. I just took him to the dealer
last week. $978 to replace the O2 sensor, air mass flow sensor, and coolant temperature sensor and
$1500 to replace the timing belt and tensioners. Trying to save some cash by making my boyfriend
change out the timing belt himself, but it's a big job, so we'll see. By the way, this is why I have no
    money.

Anyway, roughly how much does it cost to lower?

That's actually what I wanted to do before I thought of spray painting the ones I have.
Heh. Lower, with those wheels...I like the stock, but slightly fixed up look.

    Really..?

I got an idea for you, post helpful information or don't post at all.

For the OP, have fun with your car. To each their own. I reccomend just lowering first before painting the wheels. You might end up liking the car a bit more.

Fine, since you guys won't. I will... Rule 22 please.

Kathryn, please don't spray paint wheels. No matter how bad you want to change the look of your car, for godsakes he won't like it (since you refer to your car as a male). Wait until you have saved up funds for modifications after all the maintanence bills.

Rule 22 does not apply here, this is not GCC. Also, rule 22 only applies when a member is complaining about a gf or wife. Then, the member is required to post pics of said female. Always remember, wapce.
