    Strange electrical issues, battery dying?

    Hey guys,

I started the car up today, first thing I noticed was that the date/time was reset to the stock setting. The after a few seconds the cluster shut "off" for a split second and came back on. All the gauges fell to 0 and the lights went off in the cluster but then popped back up instantly. The date and time was reset again. This happened kind of sporadically at idle. A little while it would be normal, then "reset." I drove around for a bit and everything seemed fine. No engine weirdness, and none of those electrical issues appeared when I was in motion. I drove all the way back from school to home (1.5 hour drive) with zero problems. After I turned the car off, and on again later the time/date were reset again. Then later on (at night) when I parked, turned my lights off, and removed the key, the cluster, radio, and climate control lights were still on. I turned on the ignition and off again and the cluster and radio went out. The climate control stayed on for ~30secs after I locked the car. I am drawing a blank right now, could it be that my battery is just dying? I have not changed it at all since owning the car (almost 2.5 years) and I have no clue how long it has been in there for.

    Help?

P.S. Car starts up fine, no hesitation or anything. No CEL. Didn't find any fault codes, but I only have the $20 eBay version.

    TIA.

Edit: Also, one time when I turned the car on, it told me I had 0 gas (when I knew I had probably a little less than a quarter) and that a parking light was out. The parking light fault went away almost immediately, but still it said I had "0 miles" till empty. I put in a gallon at a gas station and then the gas gauge went to about quarter....

make sure your battery connections are tight, check for water in/around the ECU, check your grounds/connections.

That ^ plus check and see if the floor is damp underneath the drivers seat. Also check the battery voltage with the car at rest. You should see 12.6 volts. Low voltage can cause really screwy issues with the electronics. Start the car and check the alternator output. You can check this at the battery. You should see around 13.8-14.3 volts depending upon what equipment is turned on.

It turned out to be the battery. I replaced it today and everything is working normally now.
