    AEB timing belt clarification.

I started doing my timing belt today after school, i got everything off except my water pump. This brings me to my first question, the diy i was following dealt with an internal water pump and he did not change his seals. Well, i have an external water pump, and i just want to make sure that i only need to remove the alternator to get it out. Also, how tricky is it to change the cam shaft seals, and crank shaft seals? This is my first time doing them, and i want to make sure i do it right. I searched here and google and i didn't find anything to helpful. I would rather ask then f*uck up my car. Thanks in advance.

I don't believe you have to remove the entire alternator assembly. If I recall correctly, you can pivot it out of the way with the top mounting bolt still connected. Alternatively, you can simply leave the water pump housing installed in the car, and remove the front, replace the seal and reinstall the new impeller/pulley/shaft/cover.

You really need a Bentley repair manual if you're going to be doing work yourself. It will tell you exactly what you need to know to replace the crankshaft pulley seal, and camshaft seals.
