    Hotchkis sway setting

Installing hotchkis sways tomorrow. I am thinking that I should set the front to the stiffer option to keep the car closer to stock balance. Hotchkis doesnt list the %+ stiffness of the rear over stock but my car has ADS which means a smaller rear sway than non-ADS S4s and A4s (same sways for all these cars).

Does my reasoning sound logical? Or does the ADS/sport diff compensate for the smaller sway and I should set the front to the softer option.

Thanks for input. I've read a few posts on here regarding this but am still not quite sure which way to go.

Okay, my car doesn't have ADS but I think my logic still applies.

Say you set the sways @ the harder setting. Who is going to be such a lightweight that they spend money to make their car ride softer? Nobody. It makes you feel weird just thinking about asking your mechanic to detune the car. So if you go to the high setting you're stuck unless you have no pride..

But if you go with the low setting you can always go to the garage and say "this setting wasn't manly enough for me".Plus, you might find out that the softer setting works great and decide to leave it alone, as I have done.

lol @ manliness equaling how you tune your car.

I'd say start @ the lower setting, then try out the max setting. Figure out which feels better to your style of driving. It's 45% and 75% more stiffness than stock according to:

I installed these on my ADS B8 a couple months ago. Went with the soft setting up front and am very happy with how it rides. My thought on using the soft setting was that a higher stiffness should result in more understeer and I wanted to minimize that. Since I felt that stock, in Dynamic, the car had just a little understeer already, did not want to add to it. Still have not tracked it, but this setting feels pretty balanced pushing it around the twisties. Am still really pleased with this mod. One thing is that you really do need to crank those end link bolts on pretty tight. My fronts came loose a month ago and it resulted in the usual horrible knocking sound, so had to get under there again and re-tighten / loctite. Thank god the rears have remained in place...really tough to install those, but probably just tightening them up would be easier...

    Good luck!

Thanks for he responses. Is the outer hole the softer position? Seems that the longer arm would allow more flex. Hotchkis instructions don't say.

Use the outer holes, which gives a longer torque arm & makes the front effectively softer. The two holes are very close together.

Torque end link bolt to about 30 ft-lbs & use blue locktite.
