i have some rs4 reps that i want to toss on my car 18x8 et35, but they are barely touching my bbk. Can i use some cheap 1/4" spacers or do i need some hubcentric ones? i have studs on the car.

been using 5mm spacers with no issues. found some slightly longer than usual lugs that fully extend into the hubs, good to go.

i would never use those spacers on anything.. those are used for like mock up purposes or when you are rolling fenders or something..

always buy hub centric.. its not much more money

if you buy those you will have terrible wobble at 50+mph (i learned this the hard way) you wont be happy unless you get hubcentric

I dont run hubcentric spacers and have no vibrations or anything. I am running 10mm spacers btw with a lug kit.

I run 5mm non hub centric spacers to clear my b6 s6 wheels over my bbk, and I also use longer wheel bolts. I have no wobble even at 175mph.. I personally wouldn't run bigger.

I've ran 8mm spacers that weren't hub-centric for awhile. Had them on with a stud kit, no vibration issues here.

Just get hubcentric. You can find ones on eBay that are the same quality with longer lugs for 65 shipped. Mine are 10mm hubcentric. 0 vibration. Awesome quality. My buddy spent big bucks on the h and r ones and side by side you could never tell the difference.

I had a different car that had 6mm spacers (H&R, not hubcentric though) and no problems at 100mph... Would get hubcentric spacers if going thicker for sure.
