    A3 Suspension Upgrade/Redo

    Hi All,

I'm new to the forum but have lurked on occasion over the last few years. I own a 2006 A3 2.0T manual (FWD) that I bought new and absolutely love. She's showing some signs of age and I think it's time to make a few upgrades. The one issue that bothers me the most is the fact that over the summer, my tires have been cupping. I'm guessing this is from the suspension wearing out (she has 117,000 miles on her) and should probably be aligned as well.

I'd like to keep her for another 100k, and would like to know what others recommend for suspension upgrades/redos on this car? I know there aren't going to be too many '06 A3s with that many miles (I LIKE TO DRIVE, OKAY?) but I'd appreciate any input into what you all recommend. I don't want to spend a ton nor do I want to sacrifice ground clearance (or handling - if anything, I'd like a tighter ride).

    Thanks for any input :)

    Vanessa

H&R touring cup kit would work for you. Slight lowering and a slightly firmer ride than the S-line suspension. AWE Tuning is having a sale right now. I got my sport cup kit for $645 shipped.

I also have my stock S-line suspension with only 30k miles on them if you want to restore stock comfort at a really cheap price. If you are non S-line this could be a nice option for you. Check the ad! Let me know.

Hey thanks everyone! I'm going to take her in for an alignment this weekend and a new tire to replace the cupped one that's driving me nuts.

@Miggity- thanks, I checked your ad and that looks nice. I'll think about it :)

I've been to Michigan once, well only East Lansing and part of Detroit. How is driving a lowered car or car with a full suspension on those roads? I remember some pretty rough roads with quite a lot of pot holes. I want to do a suspension on my car since I do an occasional canyon run, but I would probably go with coilovers of some sort just to have the ability to just dampening for everyday driving, esp. on rough roads.

BTW, I have a 2006 Audi A3 2.0T (FWD) and I just hit 106,000 miles on my car since I purchased the car 2nd hand about 1.5 years ago. Unfortunately I put a lot of miles on my car due to working in real estate.
