6800 miles?! Replacing your valve cover gasket would be my first attempt to fix an oil consumption problem. If it doesn't fix it,then I'd probably go get a leak down test and compression test.

I personally would NEVER add additives to these cars since it simply states in the manual to NEVER do it. I understand some people on here say they have done so without any problems but my personal choice is to listen to the manufactuer. Masking the problem isn't what the car needs. Find the source and correct is the solution.

If you haven't already come check out the 3.0 section on audirevolution.net

how much oil did you put in when you first changed the oil? If you replaced the filter it should have taken ~7quarts.

Mine unfortunately has started this as well. Is the valve cover gasket a common failure point?

you would notice if it was, you could check your valve cover gasket, cam seals and oil pan for leaks also.

if it's on the front of your oil pan it is probably dripping down. check your cam seals

Mine burns from full to the empty line every 5-6k and audi says its "normal for the 3.0", keep checking it, see if oil pan bolt is tight

7 quarts??? I don't think thats right. IIRC it takes EXACTLY 5.75 quarts.

Actually it's 6.8 quarts. 7 is perfect if you use an oversized filter.

I feel like that's more of a lazy tech then a normality. Burning oil is never good, I know that :(

according to audi, anything over 0.85 qt/ 1000 miles is repairable under warranty. well, if you're still under warranty.

Burning some oil is normal but from full to the low line in 5k miles is a bit much. No leaks anywhere?

That is without changing the filter. If you change your filter you need ~6.8 quarts, I use a large Mann filter so i do 7 quarts. If you change the filter and only put in 5.75 quarts you are definitely going to be low on oil.

Yea guys don't worry I've looked into my issue, I promise I go from the full line to just above the "low" line on the dipstick every 5 to 6 k(I change it around 5) and audi looked into it and said it was fine, its done it since about 70k, so like 2 years now or so... no blue smoke or a smell or anything just loses it over the course of time... it may not be normal, but then again neither is the rest of my car so I guess I should just not ask questions I don't want the answers too haha
