    A6 C5 Mirrors/Housing and all

Are all C5 mirrors the same, save for the Allroads? What I'm getting at is this: I want to swap my S6 polished aluminum mirrors for mirrors from another Audi C5 (so if anyone out there wants a set of S6 mirrors for their stockies, lets make a deal), but I want the same size as my S6 and I want the power folding ability. My S6 mirrors don't look good with my trim (black), and I want a set of mirrors I can color-code to my paint. If I can't find a set of mirrors, can I run mirror caps over the aluminum housing?
    any help would be aappreciated.

vinchenzo51: I won't be there, but if the car is ready, one of the guys from AMS is gonna bring it down with my blessing. They are putting it back together so it should be ready.........the problem is my rear wheels have not come in yet........this guy in Penn.State redid them, and he has had them since May; and lets just say I am none to happy about it.

Rayko: If the car doesn't make it to show and go, maybe we can work something out, since I am in Fort Lee also.

SO I am guessing all A6's have power-folding mirrors?

Well how far are you from Englishtown raceway? I can meet you somewhere while I'm in Jersey. Be cool to see your car anyway lol.

Im going from CT to NJ, so I'm pretty sure Fort Lee is on my way home (Near NY right?)

And the power folding was an option, not sure starting which year. But mine are auto dimming, power folding. The housings are easy to swap and still retain the glass and power stuff.

Yeah Vin, you would be passing thru Fort Lee on your way to Englishtown. I won't have the car, either way on Sunday; it's at AMS Right now,and if it's done, one of the guys is gonna take it to show-and-go. I gotta work on Sunday, and I just came back from Hawaii, so my vacation days hafta be used with more discretion......and Sunday is a double shift for me(mad loot).

Allroad mirrors are a different shape and size. The S6/RS6 has aluminum mirror housings, and the A6 has body colored painted plastic housings.

Also, mid-2000 and older had a slightly different shape. I found this out recently getting new glass that didn't fit. But anything newer than that will all be the same shape & size. But not necessarily power folding. Mine aren't power folding, I have only ever seen that on S6, RS6 and a handful of 04 2.7T's.. But you can swap housings around and keep the mechanicals of your power folding ones if needed. The housing is the easiest part to remove anyway, vs the whole assembly.. Good luck!

I believe my 2001 4.2's mirrors are the same color as your paint. I'd trade you, but mine don't power fold. How can we get around that?

Edit: No, I believe they are much darker. Still would be interested in some S6 mirrors.

Mine are power folding and auto dimming. We could swap out housings or complete mirrors. Whatever works for you better. Thanks

I think that the MK4 VW mirrors are basically the same (shape/ dimensions) as the A6 through sometime in 2000.
I know its true because i swapped the mirror glass from our old 99' Avant to my 2000 GTI before i sold it. Direct fit both ways. And in case you've ever noticed B5 A4 mirrors/ housings are very very close but not identical. You could hold them up to an A6 mirror/housing and maybe not be able to see the difference. But they're different. The whole assemblies are sort of interchangeable, but the adjustment motors are flipped so your controls are reversed ( ask me how i know!).

Turn the mirror control knob on the center console to point to the rear of the car, and with the car running, they will fold in, if you have the power fold option...
