Hello everyone, I just traded my '95 5spd mt lexus sc300 in on an '05 1.8tq w/ 6spd MT and wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I'm thinking I'll soon be picking up an APR stage 1+ kit and maybe doing the exhaust, then kind of taking it from there. Those Rieger kits do look pretty nice after all...

oh, here's the new ride, fresh from a bath- she was a dirt girl and needed a good scrubbing!

You need to lower it. looks like a truck. I'm jealous of your 6 speed though.

Actually, yes, it was a great car, fun to drive, great to look at, and with a ton of potential! But, I live in a snowy area, and rwd just doesn't cut it in the winter, so I decided to go awd. Now, I love the a4, looks great, rides great, and best of all none of the issues that naturally come along with a 16 year old car.

Thanks for the welcomes, I'll be reading through the board...

lol, fair enough, hopefully it won't have as many "needs" as a 16 year old car, but I'll definitely be tossing a little salt over my shoulder. Then again, all cars need love, and I've had to wrench on enough stuff over the years that I'm not too terribly worried if I need to give her some attention.

you'll be fine stuff happens, and you fix it. such is life. it isn't rocket science. The lexus was a fun car, no doubt! I think I miss the seats more than anything. The Audi does have a very clean and tasteful look naturally. Happy modding

I'm pretty sure a 6 year old VAG has as many problems as a 16 year old Japanese car, lol.

Haha, I hope not... to be fair though, about 90% of the trouble I had with the lexus dealt with plastic and rubber bits getting old and brittle, and breaking apart, had to replace steering rack bushings, fan shroud, under-body pan, and quite a few other plastic bits. I supposed that is to be expected after a decade and a half running around in the hot sun and freezing snow. Otherwise she ran like a champ!

Hrm, that was the company I've been looking at the closest. Alternatively, I was thinking about Revo, but it was kind of a toss up. Time to do some searches I guess.

the 1.8t runs very hot so the plastic stuff under the hood deteriorates very quickly. you'll likely want to replace some of it soon. check out the "engine strengthening" thread on here by a4darkness for some good info on the evap system.

and yes, stay away from APR, you won't have much room to upgrade if you wanted to down the road (i threw away $1000 in APR software when i went larger then a K04 turbo). go revo or uni.

nice car, enjoy and don't let us scare you to much, just some basic heads ups. :)

I run Eurodyne stage one and I have to say it's quite smooth. Also with maestro (900) upgrades are free if you want to upgrade in stages

If you want to do any "engine" modifications, don't start by doing a stage 1 chip. A stage 1 chip is utterly pointless. You go from being a slow car, to a slightly less slow car, but still very slow. Save the $500 and by yourself a Frankenturbo kit along with a Revo stage II tune. That is the way to go if you want more power, yet still being reliable.
I are an engineer. I like make cars. i speak to english good. engineer don't need to good be talk. because race car.

No worries, I don't scare easily. Just before I bought this I nearly bought a '83 porsche 928 for a project car, which by all accounts is a huge money pit. Looks great and a front engine v8 porsche? yes please! But I decided that I needed something more practical so I thought, why not get something fun and practical: hence the A4. Once I get the a4 set up the way I like it, maybe I'll start thinking about the 928 again, but for now my b6 is taking up all my interest.

stage 1 is great for unleashing that power that should be available stock.
i did mine apr, which itself is pretty awesome. its a big gain for low money, but in retrospect would have gone uni. only because i plan on getting the frankenturbo, which works best on a uni stage 2+ file. apr files don't seem to do much for anything bigger than the stage 1.

Great starting platform... It looks to be Moro Blue am i right?.. Just remember preventive maintenance is the key. You take care of it it will take care of you..Check out the classifieds for mods to build on. Also remember the search feature is your best friend. At the top of the page you will see the tech forum in there is a master list of DIY (do it yourself) stuff that you can do..well by yourself or a friend with some beer. But most importantly if you have a question search first its more than likely been answered... Welcome and if you ever need anything just shoot me a PM

Moro blue it is! Good call on buying beer for free labor, always the best way to get your car wrenched on. The real question for me will be which tune will work better with 91 octane, since 93 octane is somewhat of a rarity around here. Diesel, ethanol, and 91 are about it for choices...

Thanks everyone for the greetings and words of wisdom, this looks like a great community and an awesome resource for audi enthusiasts!
