I know the pictures are foggy (it was early in the morning and cold) but for those of you who know how to weld, how does the install look?

On the car:







Mufflers I picked up in the states (performance peddler) for $240 shipped and got it locally installed for $280 (2 hours labor + piping pieces + taxes). Piping was kept @ 2.5" and stock hangers were used (but welded new rods to the mufflers).

Before and after video will be posted soon, but all in all, really good bang for your buck for ~$500 Car sounds very different @ idle and accelerating. I don't know exactly what "droning" is, but there is no major low pitch cabin echo when driving on the high way or anything like that...

Good :) still looking into exhausts but stassis is #1 on my list so far.

Does your car pop off? I have those mufflers with 2.5" piping straight back from the turbo and it barely pops off at low rpms.

I have the same mufflers! They've been on for about 2 years. 3" from the downpipe back, and 2.5'' after the split. I have a center muffler (magnaflow) as well.

Very nice, im looking into exhausts now as wheels got pushed back on my todolist. Are there any threads that you read through that had some good info on different systems. ups and downs of different things. I just need to get a general idea of it all before i pull the trigger online.

^ Not really... Exhausts are SO subjective to everyone's tastes. What's loud to one person is quiet for another etc...

I simply went with magnaflow due to my experience with them. For me AWE, Stasis, APR, etc... none of these filled the valence like they way these mufflers do. Going custom allows you to throw in a resonator if its too loud, or add another muffler. If I bought a $1000 exhaust, i wouldn't want to hack it up if was droning to add a resonator. As for the piping, don't go bigger than 3'' or less than 2.5''.

I get no "pop." I have the same mufflers - had a test pipe and now the oem cat.

Yours is probably from having straight pipe.

I was going to go with the Stasis system (still considering it) but a friend has it on his B7 2.0T for about a year and I feel like it's getting too loud for my taste. Another friend has Magnaflow mufflers on a stock 2.7T exhaust system (allroad) and it sounds great. Was hoping the sound would be similar on a 2.0T.

Even with my straight pipes and these mufflers it has a very subtle idle, but between 2-3k rpm the drone gets pretty remarkable especially for those in the backseat...these mufflers are considered the race mufflers by Magnaflow, but if you're worried about it being to loud you should get the street mufflers (14289?). My buddy had those on his GTO and his sounded so badass.

The sound this car makes when he lets off the gas is when the exhaust "pops off". These Mini Coopers are designed to make that noise for sales, but some cars do it when the exhaust is a bit more free'd up with back pressure if that makes any sense. I have an auto and I just wasn't sure if our FSI engines were capable of making that noise...

Then go with these for sure! I went with Magnaflow because they are big in the muscle car world and I wanted that deep sound...not that high pitched/raspy stuff that sounds like a civic....Anyway, since I only did the mufflers, its not a HUGE difference but it is for sure noticeable by me (idle is deeper, acceleration sounds amazing, and while dropping in RPMs it sounds even better!). The tips look really good in the pictures PPLAPW posted, but seeming them now on my car, I'd say they are a little aggressive. They are 4" AFAIK and stock is 2" so 3" would have been a better size but that could just be me

nice man, i got the magnaflow #16601 with the rai hfc/down pipe. Magnaflow makes good stuff, had them on all my cars now.

Ive got similar magnaflows, been on since may this year now broken in they are very loud this coming from who used to drive a fullsize pickup with custom exhaust and magnaflow muffler aswell. I personally will be installing a resonator, as its too much for me. I wanted the deep growl which it has but cannot have someone in my backseat as they r non existant if they try to speak. Great choice youll love them! Mine pop-off occasionally and it sounds amazing as it is now just need it to be a lil more passenger friendly.
