Yeah... It's a work in progress. It was cactus green when I got it, but I shaved the washer caps, and filler plate. I have a case of that paint in my garage, so sprayed it with that so it was at least one color. it'll get painted before I start driving it.

Got the monoblocks mounted today, and adjusted the coilovers down closer to where I want them at. They still need adjusted the fronts settled almost half an inch while I was doing the rears

Right now the fronts are set around 23.75" without any spacers, and the rears are at 24.25" with a 5mm spacer. I have 15mm spacers for the rear, but I need to get longer wheel studs to put them on. I'm also going to need to roll the front fenders and raise it back up to 24".

    Stretch on the rears with a 215/40 Falken FK-452 on a 18x9

    Needs bigger spacers!

You should look in to getting some hub centric spacers made so you don't have any vibration. When I had my c63 wheels, I couldn't find any spacers pre-made that we're hub centric to the inner Audi bore as well as hub centric to the Benz wheel so I had some made. I know a guy that's local if you're interested.

so between work and bad weather things are still moving slow.

i'm still trying to get the engine running right. as of a few weeks ago it was misfiring, and stumbling. after i replaced the MAF, it wasn't stumbling any more and would half ass idle on it's own, but was misfiring on all four cylinders at idle. above 2000rpms it seemed to run fairly smooth, but other then the misfires wasn't trowing any codes. so i held it around 2k for a few minutes and finally got it to throw a code for the primary o2 sensor.

i went ahead and ordered a new o2 from the dealership, and installed a USP metal slave cylinder because mine was making a sucking sound when i pressed it in and stayed at the floor.

the old one actually turned out to be worse then i thought. after i got it out, i went to compare the rod lengths, and it completely exploded when i popped off the boot.

anyways, i got it all in, flushed the entire brake system, and actually got the clutch working. it was kind of a personal victory that day, because i got to move the car under it's own power for the first time, even though it was only like ten feet

a couple days later i got the new o2 sensor in from the dealership. it cost me $250 but it didn't have to deal with ECS

WTF, are these things gold plated or something?!

so i got the new o2 installed, and it was still misfiring on cylinders 1 and 2. i tried re-gaping the plugs, and cleaning the grounding points for all the coils on the valve cover. still no dice.

needless to say that day ended with me being a little agitated with it. i still haven't messed with it since then, but i'm going to double check all the engine grounds, and pressure test, but i didn't find anything obvious just by looking things over.

so after i gave up on the engine, i decided to swap out my headliner, and found something a little interesting...

    yup! that's someones mail.

no idea how it got up there, but it's a letter from some lawyer from back in 06'.

also found a SHIT LOAD of pine needles up there.

i cleaned out all the sunroof drains while i had everything out. hopefully it'll fix the condensation issues i've been having in the car. there was some moisture build up above the headliner on the roof, and the headliner had some stains on it.

a couple picture from during the install. the sunroof shade is a total bitch!

the same day i tossed on some longer rear wheel studs, and those 15mm spacers. i'm pretty happy with the final fitment. it gave it just the perfect amount of poke, but should still be functional.

no idea... i'm still trying dilute the old gas that was in the car and run it out. it had a quarter tank when i got it, so i finished filling the tank, and added a bottle of Heat to try and dry out any moisture in it.

i'm not sure if that would mess with it that much, but i can definitely smell the old gas when it's running.

Thanks Alex, I'm really getting excited about this. This whole project has been in the works for the better part of two years. I actually started gathering parts before I even had a car. It's getting dangerously close now to being drivable, almost to the point I can't stand it.

These probably aren't the wheels for you then... I'd guess the rears are somwhere in the 40lb region.

Thanks, sounds good. I don't know how these would look with a meaty tire set up though, they seem like a wheel that needs stretch to look nice.

could your issue be, that you are running a built motor on stock tune?

you have different compression right? valves are upgraded and open close different than if stock i would think as well....

might throw in a k04 or ft with a tweaked tune if nothing else till you go with the efr

or might open/close the gap on your plugs....... i know i have talked to a few people about piece by piece building my motor and was told it would be a hassle cause i would need to be retuned for everything i did....

Have you checked the knock sensor voltages? I've been getting misfires (albeit at higher RPM's) and finally got a code for low knock sensor voltage. Might be worth doing some logging and checking. Especially since the 058 blocks use a common sensor for cylinders 1&2.

i have oversized valves, but the cams are still stock. the pistons are stock bore 8.5:1 compression. soo... i don't think it should matter?

I had the plugs gapped at .028 initially, but I opened them at .032 the second time. Didn't seem to make a difference.

when i purchased the engine it was still in the car and everything was set up like stock. to my understanding it was broke in on a stock tune, and a k03 and ran fine.

thanks for the tip, i'll make sure to run some logs. but what should the voltage be at? i have another set of sensors i can swap them out for off my old engine if need be.

i already ran output tests on all the engine solenoids, and everything passed. so i think i'm good there.

For future reference, you can use the B6 primary o2 sensor on the AWM. Been running one for a couple years now (there are a lot of compatible Bosch part numbers, and not quite sure which one I have in there currently). And you can source the sensor for cheap. We also use the same MAF. Below is a list of Bosch 17090, which we can use.

Honestly, I'm not 100% sure. Maybe I'll try and run some logs on mine with the bad sensor to see what comes up (beats writing law school papers :p). If yours are similar then maybe it's an indication that you have a bad one too.

    well, i'm an idiot.

just found the problem. i forgot to cap the vacuum port on the under side of the intake manifold when i deleted the EVAP system. i was sitting there staring at the engine while it was idling, and it sort of dawned on me that it might not be capped. so i reached under there to feel if it was still open, and it instantly sucked my finger to it, and the idle smoothed out.

only problem now is that my clutch isn't working now... it's back to staying at the floor. i'm going to double check the fittings for the slave, and bleed it out again.

That is funny. and shitty. I did something similar, car would not idle correctly. Thought it was my maf. So I bought a new one, then saw that my intake hose wasn't connected at the intake mani. Live and learn
