What gas do you use for the S5 ? Mid-range 89 or Premium 93 Octane? Any difference?

Do you notice any difference in mileage between 89 octane and 93 octane for the S5 ?

i do not have an s5 but i am 75% positive on the door thingy that houses the gas tank it says what gas you should use and i know that if you use a lower octane gas than recommended your engine with adjust itself to run off it but you will lose power and no body wants to loose power

IIRC the S5 has minimum requirement of 91 octane. Filling up with anything lower will be robbing your car of performance and efficiency.

I think only of performance, and even then it is a pretty small amount.

I wouldn't be going cheap on gas on a high performance engine. Though the ECU will automatically adapt to the lower octane levels, the idea of the ecu pulling timing from the engine doesn't sound too safe to me.

Anyone buying an A5/S5 and worrying too much about gas prices should drive back to the dealer and downgrade to a Mazda 2. I believe 91 is minimum recommended octane per manufacturer's direction, I believe it's stated in your gas tank door-cap as a reminder, I would go 91 or higher. Chances are the higher you go, the cleaner gas solution you will get which will keep your engine up running smooth. I recommend Sunoco 91 and 93.

Chevron 91 for me. 91 is the highest grade here in CA :/ I wish we had 93.

There are few gas stations in LA, one in Pasadena for sure with a 100 octane rating (76 Gas Station).

I use chevron 91 too; I swear I can feel a performance improvement using Chevron 91 over all other 91s (including Tex and Shell). Am I imagining the improvement? I would use higher octane, but there isn't any close by.

I put the highest available in my area which is cheveron 91. anything less will lead to an accelerated carbon build up and impaired performance
