how can i fix this and what is the problem? i cant feel any problem at all when i drive or when i start the car?

Hi Folks,

I am using VCDS-Lite. I had a 1999 A4-B5 and I could pull almost all addresses, but I recently got a 2008 A4-B7 and I can only read the following addresses: 08/09/16/17/36/46/56. The ones I needed most (01/02/03) tell me the protocol is not supported. Does that mean that I need to use a separate interface? Is it possible I have a KII and need CAN? - which one do I need? Seems odd that I would have to use multiple interfaces to cover off a full scan.

I'm not 100% sure, but I bet your cable doesn't support 2005+ models. Is your cable a real Ross tech cable. VCDS lite w/ 3rd party cable is limited. You'd need the hex-USB ( or COM) cable for the newest OBD systems.

No, it's one off of eBay - worked great with B5 - you're probably right, I may need a K/CAN cable to access key modules such as 01/02/03 - but it seems that CAN doesn't work with VCDS-Lite, only 10.6...what a mess

Not a mess at all. Buy a genuine cable and be done with it

With 4.09 you can't acces everything. I bought a cable with the 10.6 software. This software works with Win 7 64bit and can access all VAG cars up to 2011.
Now I can do everything the dealer does except milage and key learning.

I don't understand why everybody is buying the $20 cable instead of the $50 dollar 10.6 cable with no restrictions.

Could you possibly PM the link to the $50 cable you bought(or post it here) because I can't seem to find one less than $200 with 10.6 software.

Watch this type of question since you're asking about licensed copyrighted software and a way to get it working for you for free... these type of questions got the first thread shutdown until it was cleaned up by moderators.. Back to your question, Are you talking about scanning for error codes? Because I believe you can scan for them with the "ebay cable" just not clear them, someone correct me if I'm wrong...

could someone help me with my problem? i got my OEM Bi-Xenon lights today but im afraid that i will do something wrong with the coding and destroy something.

You cannot damage anything by entering the wrong coding value. Either the controller won't work the way you want, or it won't accept the coding value you are trying to enter. Remember to make a note of any coding values that were entered in the controllers before you make any changes, that will be usefull if you make a mistake and enter the wrong code. Just reenter the original code to recover, then try again. Also, remember to turn the key OFF for at least 10 seconds after changing the coding values in a controller.

Euro Headlights & DRL
Module 09 (Central Electrical), recode to ###XY, where:

X = DRL
0 – Halogen without DRL
1 – Halogen with DRL
2 – Bi-Xenon with DRL
3 – Bi-Xenon without DRL
4 – Bi-Xenon with DRL / tail light / license plate light

There is nothing wrong with your neighbor letting you use his genuine Ross-Tech interface cable. You can have the fully functioning version of VCDS on your own computer and use his interface cable. There is nothing in the license terms preventing sharing or loaning an interface cable.

It's true that Ross-Tech's website provided the end-user to directly download VCDS-Lite at one point. However, VAG-COM version 409 is no longer supported or available from their website for download. Since re-distribution of any of Ross-Tech's software is explicitly prohibited, there is no legitimate way to get version 409. Because VCDS-Lite is a substantially improved version, those who wish to use the various "cracks" that were developed for earlier versions will run into a few problems.

Basically, posts with links to "warez" are not allowed.

I don't read anything in the post you are responding to, saying anything about getting a license of VCDS working, in a fashion that circumvents the license terms. That is what you said, it's not what the post wording said at all. He only wants to know if it's OK to use his neighbors interface cable, and have his own fully functioning copy of VCDS on his own computer. There is nothing in the license terms that prohibit loaning an interface cable. The VCDS software itself, is free for any one to download to their own computer.

Aside from the above, what you are saying here, is that because the subject of the question is with regards to "working for you for free" as in using the software in a manner that is prohibited by the license terms, the question must not be asked! This denies everyone's right to free speech use of the forum venue, guided by the forum rules and common sense of the contributing members. How did you get the Auto Scan feature to scan from beginning of 01?

When I click Auto Scan it trys 4 times 01, 02, 03 etc until 08 which is starts detecting.
I tested the cable & everything else works just fine.
Also when I try the Engine scan alone it says "No response".

Any help would be appreciated.

I was on a verge on searching for someone to vag-com my car for me. I bought this cable on ebay,

and used vcds lite. I set up the com ports just fine, but when I went in to any of the modules, the software would try to read the car's settings, but it would basically just time out.

Is this a bad cable? Ive been wanting to turn on seat belt chime for so long. All summer long id go on a 1 mile <30mph trip with a friend in my car and I would constantly have to keep reminding them to put their belt on because I cant stand the chime.

Although it is not precise, what you want to do is wait until the radio pauses (right before the BT conncection sound), then beginning rolling down the volume control on the steering wheel as quickly as possible. It may require more than one attempt to get it to a decent volume. The car does require a minimal volume for that chime (no way to totally eliminate it) but it becomes bareable.

I am seeing the same thing...I am using a hex+can cable and VCDS 10.6. When I go the auto-detect chasis road for auto scan, it says something about "gateway not found" or similar

When I manually select 8E for B6/B7, it populates what modules it will be scanning and begins. It pulls only module 1 and 3 (engine + abs brakes) and then stops.....Anyway have any ideas? Can some modules only be access when the engine is running (ex: the engine, awd, etc)?
