Brilliant Red A4 Mini Build/Photo Thread

Hey everyone, I'd like to formally introduce myself to the forums. Had my A4 for a couple months now and finally saved enough money to really start modding. Been pretty low-key so far, but have some exciting shipments coming in soon. Now I know the 3.2 is cursed for mods but I'm going to do my best. Don't think I'm going to be doing anything groundbreaking with the car, just going for a tastefully modded B8. My plan is to improve on the exterior first before I move on to the extremely limited engine bay. Here are a few day one pics of the car and some more recent pics with the minor upgrades.

    Day I drove her home:

    And so the modding begins...

    Dealership tint (20%):

I know, I know, nothing special so far. There is much more to come soon, just waiting on that brown van! I plan to keep updating the thread when new upgrades arrive Thanks for reading!

Might be minor so far but you're going in the right direction and definitely keeping it "tasteful" and clean, looks good brah.. and btw MYYY GAAWAD!!! do you think you might've gone a little overboard masking off the rest of the car while Plasti-Dipping the grill? I'm not too familiar with the B8's but it might've been safer and less time consuming to just remove the grill from the car.. Either way keep up the good work!

Looks good so far. What is up with the tint for the smaller part of the rear window? Looks like they couldn't do it proper.

its like that for all B8s

OP: i could have traded you my matte grille for your glossy one if you were going to plastidip it anyways lol

@hihosilver: haha did not want to take ANY chances that the plastidip could get in the radiator or somewhere else where it's not supposed to be. Grill removal required bumper removal, and not 100% confident I could put it back together properly

@dracolnyte: couple weeks too late my friend.

Car looks great. We have a Brilliant Red Avant on order.

It looks like the passenger side of you car has chrome trim and the driver side has black.

Was hoping no one would notice that, still deciding on which one to keep. I think I'm leaning towards the black...Plastidip is a wonderful product. Congrats on the avant! You rarely see any red Audis, never mind red avants; consider yourself exclusive.

I like the black. I wish we could have gotten the titanium package and Misano red, but alas we get what we get in Canada.

Can you take a good shot of the plastidip on the trim? I'd like to see it because I was thinking about doing it. I don't think I've found any plastidip in Germany, though. I might have to try to order it.

I'll get a close up shot of the plastidip today and maybe finish the other side. Also forgot to mention I had my front valence wrapped with vinyl to match the s-line front bumpers. Makes it look a little more aggressive. It's all in the details

I was going to say...did I miss a post about that... I thought maybe you plastidipped that too. If it were my car, I'd also plastidip the mirror caps and a set of lower sideblades/stoneguards to round out the look.

Haha yes, forgot to make a formal update with that. Been playing around with BMW shadowline a little lately, and I might have to re-do the window trim in that. Plastidipping takes a while to tape, spray, dry, peel...shadowline just takes patience. I'll figure something out. As for the black mirrors, I was thinking of getting a set of Brilliant Black caps eventually, but Plastidip might work as a temporary solution. I'll keep everyone updated

Car is looking nice! The wheels work very well...and I like the black window trim much better than the alum on your car.

tastefully done my man. love red B8's! I would also keep the black trim going with your theme. i would also suggest vag-com to eliminate the amber side marker. In one of the pics you can see it through your tint. not a big deal but easy to do.

good job so far. keepin' it clean and tasty!

Just thought I'd update this thread with some new additions. First, Fedex truck came yesterday and dropped off a big box full of STaSIS goodness Being a 3.2 owner, I had to opt for the S4 exhaust. STaSIS said it should work, but we'll find out for sure on Wednesday. Not only did I have to jump over the 3.2 hurdle, I also had the pleasure of not having an s-line car, so I had to figure out what to do with the rear valence. I'd really love to have an OSIR CF valence, but at that price point, I just couldn't justify it. I talked to my dealer and found out the rear valence from a 2009 S4 avant would fit...once again, we'll find out Wednesday. I'm excited to say the least

Also going to have the 40,000km maintenance done on Wednesday, should be minor.

Finally, got my 6000K H11 HID's in from HIDconcept (thanks Mike!), took about 20 min to install and they look great. 6000K D3S bulbs are on the way!

From what I've heard, the S-line rear valence will not fit. Let me know if it does, because if so, then I will upgrade mine as well.

Your car looks sick! At first I could not understand why you plasti-dipped your grill but now when I look at the whole picture I can see why. Honestly I would also smoke the rear lights to make the whole thing uniformed. I think there is not enough black in the back. I wish I could see how these wheels look on a black avant. I really like them.

This is the part I'm still cloudy on. There was no B8 S4 in 2009, just the cabrio and the avant, so if the valence does fit, it provides a much cheaper, OEM option for non s-line A4's. I'll provide a part number later if anyone else is interested.

I saw your avant a mile away! Those are quite rare in blue, looks and sounds great!

Edit: Those are INSANELY rare in Nogaro, I read 1 of 1 in the US from your other posts! Congrats, that's truly amazing.

Thanks for the compliment, but I don't see myself doing the tails on the car. There's such a thing as too much contrast, and I just don't believe the B8 lights were meant to be smoked...kind of takes away from the car's elegance, but to each his own of course.

Thanks! Although my car is filthy due to all the rain. I assure you it's normally much shinier! Ironically when I saw you, I was just on my way home from Audi and finishing up the paperwork on my new A4 S-Line. I pick it up this afternoon! The avant has been a good car, but the gas mileage is killing me, and it's going to need some fairly expensive maintenance/repairs in the not too distant future, and a buddy of mine really wants to buy it, so I pulled the trigger on a new car. Sooooo excited for later today!!

However the valence was a bust (shouldn't have trusted the parts guy) so I need a non s-line quad tip rear valence ASAP! Guess I'm going to have to shell out some cash for it...

I'll shoot some video tomorrow, however the rear looks quite ugly atm. REALLY need that valence.

Thinking of getting spacers in the back, although I'm not sure on the scale. Would 15mm be too aggressive?
