Just finished this mod myself. Glad i ponied up the cash. Love how this simple mod richens up the interior.

Did my best not to break anything, and was fairly successful. Not wanting to risk pulling the door card and breaking that "factory seal", I was able to get the trunk switch trim out without marring it or the door card itself. The one large clip in the back not so much. A little super glue and everything is back in order.

One question for those that have done this, tell me that some of the little clips on the outgoing switches broke on you also. Was hoping to preserve these to swap them out again later, but they don't seem to be designed for uninstalling.

Good for you man, I tell you these little mods finish up the cabin very nicely. Oh and btw, those latching tabs are in fact a one time use as evidenced by multiple broken tabs on every single one of my old switches...oh well, guess you have to cut your losses sometimes. So umm, any pics?

Good to know I wasn't the only one to render the old window switches useless. (although the main driver window switch cluster and mirror switch came out very easily and intact.

I will post pics soon, but nothing we haven't already seen. So many more aluminum trim pieces I wish I had.

As posted above in this thread, there are OEM p/n's for vertical and horizontal movement buttons in ETKA, but lumbar support remains the same (i.e. non-chrome). Very interesting A3 (8P0...) button cover "pack" was mentioned, but its p/n is not present in ETKA. Moreover, it's easy to see that seat movement buttons in this kit are different from B8 ones (because it's obviously for A3).

Has anyone bought the stuff from this seller?

Since there is no separate p/n for lumbar support knob included in this kit, it looks like non-OEM. Is there any difference in quality? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I did the install yesterday, I took some pics of the trunk release install in case someone finds them useful, attached below. Removing the door cards to install the window switches is trivial, all you need is the screwdriver.

In my case I did all the windows plus the trunk button, CAN $145 including everything from eBay from a German seller.

I only broke a total of 3 or 4 tabs between all my original switches and no more than one for any switch. A couple of switches even came out intact with all four tabs. I think the best way is to twist the switch sideways as you push it down.

Considering that even DavidB8 broke a couple of tabs while removing the entire door panel, I think it makes a lot more sense to just remove the trunk switch surround knowing that you WILL break a tab. Here's how I removed it and fixed it, maybe the next person can do it with less damage.

First, you have to start at the top, forget about prying anything at the bottom. It's very easy to get in there with a plastic trim tool and continue with a screwdriver covered with a cloth. When you pry it open at the top you're breaking the clip, as seen here:

The clip is broken and bent outwards:

A better view of the opening. The clip clips somewhere in there:

Here I Crazy-glued the clip back in place and held it with an elastic for a good 45 min:

After that I put the clip back in and expected it to snap in. At first it wouldn't catch the top of the opening because it was twisted too far inwards by the elastic, so I took some pliers and gently twisted the end of the clip outward. After a couple of tries I inserted it back into the opening and boom, it's clipping the button in once again.

If I had to do this again I would somehow try not to break the clip in the first place, it MAY be possible if you can first pry it open a little bit and then use some kind of hook tool to just bring the end of the clip inward without breaking the clip's base like I did. But if you break it then no big deal, as you can see. By the way, the trunk release button was by far the hardest to unclip for me. Not only does it have the four tab that easily break, but it also has a couple of extra larger tabs on the sides.

ELSA advises that trunk switch is accessible after door panel removal. Spare clips cost nothing

Hey guys, wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of finding the trunk release surround. I took it out, installed my new chrome switch. The tab bent as expected and I used the super glue method to put it back in. However, it wasnt keeping the trunk release button in place firmly, which is minor but not the OEM feel I want. so long story short after taking it back out the tab is now completely destroyed and I will need to purchase a brand new surround.

Any thoughts on a part number? Could I order from ECS tuning? DavidB8? Help?...anyone. lol

Ugh, I so want to do this now. I had a 2014 loaner, and loved the switches. I've already done the steering wheel, pedals, and shift knob. All I need now it the dash/MMI surround, door switches, and seat switches and minus a little piano black around the center dash buttons and the slightly different dash gauges (with the lower red-line tach) I will have the B8.5 full interior.

Has anyone done the switches from China? I know, I get it. But $60 compared to $200, just curious. Ya know, forget I even mentioned it. China parts=fail.

Anyone know the best/cheapest retailer for not only the switches but the MMI surround?

If someone figures out the where to source the facelift climate control knobs, I'd be very interested. They appear to be chrome vs pre-facelift black.

Don't do the China ones. Mine were really screwed up. I recommend OEM from Alex@Europrice.

ECS Tuning, link below. I believe there is a slight modification you'll have to do for the driver's switch but they are saying the others are all plug and play. We have these aluminum trimmed ones on the Wife's Q5 which makes the interior seem more luxurious but for me personally, I still like the original black switches in my A4 as they seem sportier to me but then again I have all black trim and black wheels on my exterior.

Quite an old thread but I just finished the swap today and figured I’d share some pics. For the trunk switch, as another member mentioned I stuck a trim removal tool in between the top of the shroud and the door card and pulled it out from the top first. The big clip broke on the shroud, expectedly, so I just superglued the whole shroud to the door card, much better than having to disassemble the entire door for 1 switch. I also had to superglue the main driver switch panel in place because it was a little loose from removing the old panel but every other switch was very easy to install.
